Inspired by Andre Iguodala‘s performance with Team USA this summer, Smack reader Poolpal44 (pause?) put A.I.2 on his list of the angriest dunkers of all-time. Making my own list, Ricky Davis crossed my mind, but ultimately missed the cut. Although I’ll never forget this dunk:

    Josh Smith
    Darryl Dawkins

    I would put Shaq on there, but he never really looked ANGRY when he was dunking. Powerful, for sure, but never really demonstrated anger, in my recollection.

    its hard to distinguish between angry and powerful, or just heavy. Dawkins broke the backboard cause hes an angry/crazy fella. Shaq broke it cause hes a big dude.

    oooooh….CWebb is an interesting suggestion. I wouldn’t have thought of him, but yeah…the dunk on Barkley comes to mind, and that was totally done out of anger in the moment.

    I hate the shit out of Vince, but he should be on there, 100%. Watch his dunk reels. Not all of them were angry dunks, but the ones that were angry, were downright filthy.

    He has the angriest, disrespectful, nba-career-stealing, I’m-letting-you-know-you-ain’t-shit dunks of all time…. do I really have to explain which one I’m talking about?

    Sprewell 97′ All Star Game—–2 Dunks. 2 Victims. Pippen and Mutumbo. Nuff Said.

    Kenyon Martin—- Banged on Jermaine O’Neal (with 2 Healthy Legs) so hard that I thought Jermaine’s it would be justified if Jermaine challenged him to a knife fight.

    Barkley——-any dunk he did in a 76ers uniform….

    @ Jay: I thought of that too, but the thing is…if you put vince as top 10 for this reason –

    – then you have to put Kobe, DWade, Dwight Howard, etc in there. Just because someone has had lots of angry dunks in their career, doesn’t necessarily change their entire identity into being an “angry dunker”, you know?

    I think you have to distinguish between a true angry dunk, and the dunk/yell or dunk/doo-doo face that everyone seems to use now-a-days.

    Spree and Barkley – those guys would try to hurt you when they dunked

    Yea “Angry Dunk” has to be defined more. Cause some dudes come with some stuff but it’s no real intensity to it.

    Now I seen Kevin Johnson get one on Scott Skiles once, that made me wanna kick my dog for no reason. It literally was a get-back and angry dunk because KJ had been robbed of a call earlier that had Skiles involved.

    Where as Dwight to me just dunks hard all the time, but they not really eat-your-soul dunks!

    Dunking hard vs. dunking angry has to be more defined.

    If you need a point guard, I think it has to be DRose. I was gonna go with BDiddy just because of what he did to AK47, but Rose never puts it down gently. And what he did to Gragic was one of the angriest things ever to happen, ever.

    I think its easy to tell the difference between angry and powerful. You just need to look at their demeanor. If they smile throughout the whole game (dwight), theyre probably not angry. If they are slapping the other teams players on the butt the whole game (LeBron) theyre deffinitly not angry. If you watch Andre Iguodala play, hes not smiling, hes just making ugly faces when breaks guys heads with dunks. KMart doesnt smile, KG never smiles, etc.
