Dwight Howard has been shooting every night in Orlando’s new gym

Every team in the NBA changed their uniforms yesterday. But before you go and start cleaning out the NBA Store for fresh throwbacks, just know it’s more of a performance material change. The League introduced its new unis yesterday in Manhattan, and some of the Dime crew was on-site. Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, Wilson Chandler and Jordan Farmar were also in the building. Talking about his offseason, Dwight dropped a line that his fantasy owners will love: Howard said he’s been going to the Orlando Magic’s new arena every night to shoot and work out. Is Dwight breaking out a little jumper next season? It’s been said 1 million times, but it’s true every time: If Dwight expands his offensive game beyond catching alley-oops and getting putback dunks with the occasional baby hook, he is going to be more dominant than Will Smith at Bel-Air Prep … It’s weird how players who should be expendable become suddenly untouchable when NBA teams are trying to convince themselves not to take a risk and trade for a star. How many times have we heard Andrew Bynum‘s name attached to a Lakers trade rumor, followed by later reports that L.A. just can’t bring itself to give up Bynum? Why? Pretty sure plenty of 7-footers can give you 12 points and 8 boards and 50 games per year, but if the Lakers realistically had a shot at a Chris Bosh or Kevin Garnett or whoever in recent years, Bynum was suddenly not to be dealt … We’re seeing that with the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors now. Be serious, Chicago: Is Joakim Noah really so good that you wouldn’t give him up to get one of the six best players IN THE WORLD in ‘Melo? New Jersey, you really can’t trade Brook Lopez in order to land a ready-made superstar? It’s just weird. We’re pretty sure if ‘Melo said he wanted to go to Cleveland and would promise to sign an extension there, the Cavs would balk because they really can’t see themselves trading J.J. HicksonJason Richardson is one of those Greg Oden types who looks way older than he is, and apparently he thinks the same when he looks in the mirror. Talking about his upcoming contract year, J-Rich told the Arizona Republic, “I know this is probably my last big chance to get a contract.” Dude is only 29 years old, and last we checked could still pull off 360s and nasty windmill dunks in games (as long as LeBron isn’t around). He sounds like he’s describing an old man … Snipers on the move: Steve Novak is headed to Mavericks training camp, while Jon Scheyer is going to Clippers camp. Who wins in a three-point contest between Scheyer, Eric Gordon and Rasual Butler? … The first NBA team to start training camp will be the Wizards, who are throwing a “Midnight Madness” event on Sept. 28 at 12:01 a.m. Good thing Gilbert Arenas got his legal issues out of the way, otherwise that would be past his curfew. And watch somebody like Andray Blatche still show up late … We’re out like Kevin Kolb

Point BLANK! Ready? D Howard is more obsessed and into his BODY than he is the game of basketball! You cant lift weights and expect to be “athletic” and loose. I feel he is hurting his game more then helping it with all his weight lifting. He doesnt have bad form but i dont think he knows his own strength. His range perception is WILD NEWS forget a jump shot or free throw I feel more its more important that he FINALLY ESTABLISHES his low post moves/game (which are non-existent) Hes nothing more than a Tyson Chandler (yet an obviously more gifted athlete) with VAST potential (i hate that word) But….

-If Dwight can hit a free throw consistently, things change and Orlando becomes the best team in the East.

-Everyone will see come June just how important it is to have those extra possessions in a playoff game. Guys like Joakim Noah’s value can’t be realized by some fantasy basketball nerd. Basketball is won on the boards, just like football is won in the trenches and baseball is won on the mound. It may not be pretty, or sell tickets but it’s the truth.

Aren’t most TV shows filmed in LA? Even if they are filmed in Toronto… What’s wrong with Melo wanting to play in NYC when his contract expires? What pisses me off is that he’s never come out and said he wanted to be traded. He simply hasn’t accepted an extension. What’s wrong with that? “He can score maybe better than anyone in the league” You can’t follow that statement with put downs, it looks stupid. The fact that you’re hating so hard on a dude who’s trying to make a better situation for himself and his wife, shows that you must not be in any type of committed relationship. People move for the advancement opportunities of their spouses all the time, it’s part of marriage. His commitment to Lala might be a little stronger than his commitment to the Nuggets, ESPECIALLY once his contract is up.

Tiny archibald has been working that PhD for a long time now, old news and he has been given props for that already.

1 reason why Dime should not hire Alf, his current news are 5 yr old recycled news.

Press the button Chicago! Melo for Noah and parts is a no-brainer. wtf they waiting for?

  • Sacto

isnt Noah for Anthony enuf, no need for parts!?!

  • Sacto

    whoops, didnt mean to submit…

Noah is a stud. Just cuz Melo is the better player in any deal that could/will go down doesnt mean the Nuggs have the upper. The whole effin league knows Melo wants out, so that gives the league (the rest of the teams, i mean) the upper hand. christ, denver knows that he is gone, if they could get Noah out of this it would be enuf…but, if they CAN get more, good for them and props to jerry c.

    sorry, meant, J.R., not JC

Chise, Lakeshow and Dizzle… great posts! <—Dudes who realize interior defensive presence cannot be measured.

15-11-2 from Noah but how many tipped balls does he get? How many shots altered? How many new floor burns per game? Noah is one of those guys you cannot judge by the numbers but by the effect he has on the team. He's a winner and he does ALL of the dirty work in order to help his team.
Melo's game is pretty and offensively effective… but that's about it.

To me, adding Melo to Chicago is like the Nuggets bringing in Iverson. You can't just drop them on any team and expect positive results. The pieces need to fit their games and, no matter how you look at it, the Bulls' roster doesn't compliment Melo just like Iverson's game didn't compliment the Nuggets.
Besides that, there's no assurance Melo will re-sign. Would anyone, in their right mind, trade a top tier defensive center for a 50-50 shot at re-signing a guy like Carmelo?? Great non-move, Chicago.

I’m from Toronto and most TV shows are NOT taped in Canada… a lot of MOVIES are filmed up north but not TV shows. It’s actually funny bcuz I’ll be watching a movie set in LA or NY, and then I’ll see a Toronto landmark. <–Totally ruins the movie for me cuz I'll start looking for other familiar places I know. It turns into a game for me. Lol

They film up here because the exchange rate make it cheaper for the movie industry. But for TV shows, I can't think of any mainstream TV shows that are filmed up here.
