This summer, I got to spend the day with Utah Jazz swingman C.J. Miles and go sneaker shopping. Starting at his apartment outside the city, we drove in to hit up Niketown and Flight Club where the damage totaled 16 pairs between the two spots. Also, both tracks on the video are from C.J. himself.
Speaking of Daryl Morey, the Rockets GM might have some enemies when it comes to diehard Yao Ming fans who have been waiting to see him on the court. After missing all of last season following foot surgery, according to Morey, he’ll only be able to play a maximum of 25 minutes a night. Read More »
Despite being back at college, and no longer operating out of Dime HQ every day, I have still been keeping up with the basketball world – particularly my beloved Nets. Recently, they made one move that I thought was brilliant. It wasn’t trading for Troy Murphy, or their recent signing of Joe Smith (though I liked both signings), but their hiring of Milton Lee to be their director of basketball operations. Read More »
In an office that inhabits fans of the Sixers, Pacers and Nets, there’s a lot of talk about bad NBA teams at Dime HQ. But at least none of us are T-Wolves fans. Is there a worse group on paper right now? Who is the go-to guy in Minnesota? Kevin Love, whose third-best asset is scoring? Mike Beasley, who isn’t even a lock to start? Jonny Flynn, who has an injured hip and probably won’t be ready for Opening Night? Ricky Rubio, who — oh, never mind … Good thing the Wolves aren’t trying to fool anybody. The team bought a full-page ad in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune this week, pretty much admitting it’s gonna be a rough year. Read More »
Need we say more? Watch as Brandon Jennings wreaks havoc in L.A. this past summer at the Drew League, Nike Real Run and midnight scrimmage of the Boost Mobile Elite 24.
On August 23, Chinese sneaker brand Li-Ning officially entered into a long term endorsement deal with No. 2 pick Evan Turner, a move that Li-Ning’s Brand Initiative Director for Basketball, Brian Cupps, called “a game-changing moment” for the brand. “Adding a supreme young talent like Evan Turner,” said Cupps, “sends a message to the global basketball community that Li-Ning basketball is committed to being a player on the global stage.”
According to NiceKicks.com, the Sixers rookie will receive his own signature shoe during the 2010-11 season, but with that said, check out the Li-Ning Conquer which Turner recently debuted on his tour of China. Read More »
In this day and age, athletes have out of this world physical ability. Some run faster and jump higher than us normal people could ever imagine.
There are some players in the NBA today that could start on an NFL team right now, or have at least played football during high school or college days. Watching the Monday Night Football doubleheader last night between the Ravens/Jets and Chargers/Chiefs, if got me thinking about which NBA players could make a transition into the NFL. Here are the top five, plus one coach: Read More »
LSU is a high-powered SEC school that lands top talent season after season, and their basketball program has been known to produce high-flying power dunkers. As far as their NBA success, however, those noted ex-Tigers run the gamut: Shaquille O’Neal is a Hall of Fame lock, whereas Stromile Swift, the No. 2 pick in the 2000 NBA Draft, was a bust. Tyrus Thomas sits somewhere in the middle. Read More »
Shabazz Muhammad was the breakout high school star of the summer. The 6-6 wing from Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) was already rising through the rankings before he averaged 32 points per game on the AAU circuit and really blew up.
Now every school from North Carolina to Kentucky to Duke is in pursuit of Muhammad, a junior who is ranked 8th overall in the High School Hoop national Top 50, and 3rd in his class by Scout. Muhammad has agreed to give HSH and Dime exclusive access by chronicling his thoughts in a regular diary where he’ll keep everyone updated on everything from his personal life to his high school season to his recruiting process. Here’s an excerpt from his debut entry: Read More »
