After this summer’s Red Bull 2on2 Revolution tour hit five cities, we figured that we’d lace y’all up – even if you weren’t able to make it through. In each of the cities, we collaborated with a sneaker boutique – Bodega in Boston, Vault in New York, Shop Gentei in Baltimore, MAJOR in D.C. & Abakus Takeout in Philly – for an exclusive players only t-shirt. And let me tell you, people have been fiending for them! Lastly, we’re giving away the complete Red Bull 2on2 Revolution Collection. Check it out in greater detail after the jump. Read More »
Oddly enough, while looking for Mitch Richmond highlights, I found this clip of “Rock” getting lit up. Earlier this year, at the NBA Asia Showdown, retired stars Gary Payton, Glen Rice, Chris Webber and Richmond were reduced to role players. The real star? 47-year-old Allan Caidic, a.k.a. “Triggerman,” a legend in the Philippines. Here’s what happened:
When you interview guys for a living, it’s hard not to notice a difference between a good interview and a great interview. So it was very interesting last night to read a list of NBA players that Hornets.com’s Jim Eichenhofer compiled who’ve impressed him the most in a one-on-one setting. Also what’s interesting, is that fact that half of the guys of his list were Duke alums. Coincidence? Perhaps. But regardless of where they went to school, it’s worth taking a look. Read More »
DERRICK ROSE (by Casey Mack)
As expected, Team USA brought home a gold medal from the World Championship in Turkey. Even though the NBA heavyweights were not on hand to participate in the tournament, the up-and-coming stars filled their shoes nicely.
One place in particular where the youngsters stepped up was at the point guard spot. Read More »
And we’re back to no basketball. The day after the World Championship wrapped up, reality set in that we’re still a couple of weeks away from NBA training camp and even farther away from preseason action. (Question: What happens if the All-WC squad of Serbia’s Milos Teodosic, Turkey’s Hedo Turkoglu, Lithuania’s Linas Kleiza, Team USA’s Kevin Durant and Argentina’s Luis Scola played the Timberwolves’ starting five?) … This is the time when everyone is predicting who will have a breakout season, and while there are 100 candidates for which you could make a solid argument, definitely keep an eye on LaMarcus Aldridge. If you look at the Top 5 scorers from the World Championship this summer, it probably wouldn’t surprise you that all of them currently play in the NBA. That is, all of them except one. So while Luis Scola led the field with 27.1 points per game, it was New Zealand’s Kirk Penney (24.7 ppg) who scored more buckets than even Kevin Durant. Read More »
By now, I’m sure you’re in the know about Converse Open Gym. With programs going strong in Atlanta, Chicago, Philly, Miami and Boston, around 500 kids in each city come out on any given Saturday. But this past weekend about 30 miles outside of Chi-Town at the Naval Station Great Lakes, one of Open Gym’s greatest events ever went down. Read More »
After Kevin Durant took home MVP honors yesterday, a lot of people started talking about the 2012 Olympics in London and who of this current bunch was going to make the cut. Specifically the biggest discussion in the Instant Analysis after the game was what would be done about the three and four positions given that you’ll have Durant, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony in the mix. Also, with a glut young point guards, who’s going to be playing for Team USA in two years. With all that said, here’s my prediction for the 2012 Team USA Olympic roster. Read More »
Geoff Petrie, former two-time NBA Executive of the Year (’99, ’01), was the guy who put the Sacramento Kings on the map.
After drafting sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic in ’96 and flashy point guard Jason Williams out of Florida in ’98 — behind the likes of Mike Bibby, Antawn Jamison and Vince Carter — the Kings began the rise to championship contention. The team made other moves as well to help boost the roster: signing Vlade Divac in free agency and trading away Mitch Richmond for Chris Webber. Read More »
