When I first posted John Wall‘s signature shoe in June, people had a lot to say. And now with the season around the corner, you knew that Reebok was going to have some special things planned for their guy and the Reebok ZigTech Slash. With that said, check out the limited edition “Gold Rush” colorway that Wall will debut during his first game in New York on Nov. 5. Read More »
Nobody really knows what’s going to happen this year in Miami. While we can all track and predict and analyze even movement or quote coming out of South Beach, at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to playing 48 minutes a night for 82 games. With that said, at least one of the new members of the Heat has something to say to all the haters out there. Read More »
Since it began 39 years ago, Midnight Madness has become one of the most creative events in sports because it brings the past, present and future together. Schools honor their old stars and introduce their current rosters, all while high-prized recruits sit courtside in awe. But beyond the basketball element, it’s a chance for fans, players and coaches who are generally very serious to have fun and celebrate the college basketball new year. Celebrities sometimes make unexpected cameos, future NBA Lottery picks often don ridiculous costumes, and Hall-of-Fame coaches in their 60s throw on baggy clothes and dance to hip-hop.
Friday night, Late Night With Roy – North Carolina’s Midnight Madness tradition hosted by ESPN’s Stuart Scott – epitomized what the once-a-year event should be about. Read More »
We already showed you the dunk contest from Duke’s “Countdown to Craziness,” but just like last year, the guys at Duke got a little help from the school’s improv department to take it to a whole new level. Check out both videos below.
So the Wizards have the ball in the final minute of a close game, and their point guard is slowly dribbling the clock down, figuring out where and how to make his move. “That’s John Wall, right?” somebody asks. “Nah,” comes the answer. “It’s Lester Hudson.” And that’s how you know it’s still the NBA preseason … In the first Madison Square Garden appearance for Wall since he shook hands with The Commish, the No. 1 pick put up 19 points, 5 boards and 6 assists and might have left actual burn marks on Ray Felton‘s shorts. But when the game went down to the wire in the fourth, Wall was on the bench while the likes of Cartier Martin and Landry Fields logged the crunch-time minutes … Read More »
Leave all the 1-on-1 hype and commercial time for the likes of LeBron, D-Wade, D-Rose, Pierce, Rondo and the rest. It’s become very clear that the Eastern Conference championship won’t be decided by the perimeter highlight-makers, but by the big uglies in the paint. In last night’s Magic/Bulls preseason matchup the fact that Carlos Boozer and Taj Gibson were out — and Dwight Howard, Marcin Gortat and Brandon Bass were in — paved the way for a near 40-piecing … Tom Thibodeau didn’t play any of his starters much past the first quarter, during which they only scored 10 points and were trailing by a dozen before they realized what hit ‘em. On the “teacher vs. pupil” drama scale, Chris Paul vs. Darren Collison lacked a lot in terms of experience and compelling back story. For one, the professor in this story is only 25, and the “rivals” only spent a year together, during which CP3 was injured a lot. And for now it seems everybody came out a winner when Collison was dealt in the offseason. So in other words, it wasn’t quite Carlito vs. Benny Blanco From The Bronx; more like two guys who just happened to have been on the same team together once … CP3 finished with 12 points, 8 assists and 2 steals in last night’s Hornets/Pacers game, while Collison put up 16 points, 4 boards and 5 dimes and his team got the win.
