This is the elite class. Finding a way to rank the Top 25 dunkers in the world that will please everyone is obviously impossible, as everyone has their own criteria and their own biases. For example, some don’t think the “circus act” types like Mr. 720 and Guy Dupuy deserve a spot among NBA guys like Dwight Howard and LeBron, whereas others feel if you go purely on dunking skill, hardly anyone in the NBA qualifies when there are people who make dunking their livelihood.
But even with all the different ways of looking at it, you can’t deny that the five dunkers listed below are among the best in the world today. They’ve blended hops, power, in-air creativity, personal style and intangible swagger to become legends — at least on YouTube. The top five… Read More »
While I was at the NBA Rookie Photo Shoot in August, I was able to get up with all 40 NBA rookies in attendance and ask them each five questions. All 30 first rounders were there (except No. 17 Kevin Seraphin who was getting his visa), as well as 10 second round picks and undrafted Jeremy Lin. Watch as they tell DimeTV who their pick is for Rookie of the Year.
Well, you might have been able to see this coming. First there was the letter – which Dan Gilbert has said on numerous occasions that he does not regret – and now this. Beast of the Night:Paul Millsap put up numbers that he usually does when he starts, finishing with 19 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks and 1 turnover against the Suns. He shot 69 percent (9-13) from the field and 33 percent (1-3) from the charity stripe. It’s early in the season, but these types of lines should come easily for Millsap in 2010-11. Read More »
It’s become a rite of passage for the start of every NBA season: We hear about Dwight Howard‘s new offensive repertoire and confidence in the post, then we see glimpses of it during the opener. In the third quarter of last night’s win over the Wizards, Howard (23 pts, 10 rebs, 3 blks) even hit a Duncan-esque bank shot. The real question is, can he keep this up? Come April, will Howard still be interested in working on fadeaways and jump hooks in the lane, or will he resort to old habits by running over, above and through people? (Because he can get away with that.) The answer may end up deciding who represents the East in the Finals … As for last night, it didn’t matter. The Wizards were nothing more than the Generals, albeit a slightly more well-paid version, getting rocked by 29 points as Orlando opened its new arena with what looked like a classic Homecoming opponent.
