While every basketball site on the planet (including us) is giving you their NBA teams previews, we figured we’d give you another kind of team-by-team preview before the action begins tonight. So without further ado, here’s a look at the best of the dance teams from the Pacific Division. Enjoy! Read More »
Are there really 19 dunkers in the world better than Vince Carter? Nineteen? If you’ve been paying attention to the events of the last few years, you would know that there are. But the shocked, negative reaction to Vince ranking No. 20 on our list makes sense. It’s like saying Rakim isn’t a Top-3 MC on the hip-hop scene; initially it sounds crazy, but when you consider this is about today and not all-time, it starts to sound right.
Moving on with the list of the Top 25 dunkers on the planet, the next bunch includes one man who has been called the next Vince, one who tops VC in dunk contest titles, and another who just recently did something we know Vince has never done by jumping over seven people to finish a dunk. Here are Nos. 15-11… Read More »
What do you get when you win back-to-back titles? Well, other than a championship ring presented during the home opener tonight, how about a nice pair of signature kicks to wear as well. With that said, check out the latest iteration of the Nike Zoom Kobe V titled “Ring Ceremony.” Hitting shelves tomorrow after Kobe wears them tonight, you can see the shoe in multiple angles after the jump. What fun is it to stay fully grounded in reality? This is, after all, “fantasy” basketball. Though it’s usually wise to keep the reins away from your imagination when you’re drafting and managing your teams, it doesn’t hurt to at least ponder extreme possibilities to test the ceilings and floors of certain players. Below is the result of this exercise, in the form of 10 bold predictions. This list isn’t necessarily what I think will happen – it’s just a rundown of uber-pessimistic and -optimistic scenarios that could become reality when all is said and done this year. Read More »
Like clockwork, Dime’s annual NBA Preview issue just happens to coincide with the time of year when every basketball player — even the champions — feels like they’re being written off.
Players like Dwight Howard. While the revamped Miami Heat and retooled Boston Celtics dominated much of the headlines in the most active NBA offseason in history, it seemed everybody forgot about Dwight’s squad, even though the Orlando Magic have won more games over the last two years than either of their more hyped Eastern Conference rivals. As we continue with our dunking lists, here are the top 10 dunks from this year’s preseason (according to the NBA). Although Blake Griffin gets love for two of his preseason dunks on this list, I’m shocked that this one got left off. For those of you at work, here’s the complete list: Read More »
For you, Monday was either the day before the start of the NBA season, or just the start of another long work week. But for every fringe guy in the League fighting for a job, Monday was Cut Day … The axe fell on Magnum Rolle (Pacers), Marqus Blakely (Clippers), Chris Quinn (76ers), Brian Skinner (Bucks) and his Stupid Beard (Bucks), and Patrick Beverley (Heat), to name a few. But the coldest cut of all was the Blazers getting rid of Jeff Pendergraph. Read More »
This seems fitting. After Nike’s new commercial spot dropped today featuring LeBron James‘ iconic “We Are All Witnesses” banner falling to the ground, tomorrow morning a new one will be installed in its place by Sherwin-Williams. Celebrating its presence in the Cleveland community for nearly 150 years, the new 10-story, 1.3-ton billboard on the side of the Landmark Office Towers on Ontario Street (which is also Sherwin-Williams’ global headquarters where they employ approximately 2,000 people) will begin installation at 7:00am and finish 12 hours later – the day before the Cavs’ home opener against the Celtics. While I was at the NBA Rookie Photo Shoot in August, I was able to get up with all 40 NBA rookies in attendance and ask them each five questions. All 30 first rounders were there (except No. 17 Kevin Seraphin who was getting his visa), as well as 10 second round picks and undrafted Jeremy Lin. Watch as they tell DimeTV what’s in the rotation on the iPod. (Note: Some of these albums had just dropped.)
Last week, I showed you the new adidas signature shoes for Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard. Today, it’s time to check out what Josh Smith will have on his feet to start the season. Introducing the adidas adiZero Infiltrate. Read More »
