I like to think of myself as an easy-going, friendly individual, but that doesn’t mean I like everyone – especially when it comes to fantasy basketball. Below is the result of my unrestrained indulgence in this resentful side of me: a quick list of some fantasy players that are overhyped, inconvenient and just plain unappealing. Read More »

So now that we’re officially on the verge of Boston vs. Miami and another L.A. ring ceremony, let’s all give thanks to another wonderful preseason. Where else can you witness things like Shelden Williams going off for 27-point stat lines, Martell Webster looking like Kobe Bryant against Kobe Bryant, or games being canceled because somebody forgot the different between wax and oil? …One man who won’t be involved in the regular season is Allen Iverson. On the eve of what would have been his 15th year in the League, A.I. agreed to a two-year, $4 million deal with Besiktas of the Turkish league. Read More »

Now that the NBA preseason is out of the way and the regular season is right around the corner, it’s time to take stock of the notable injuries around the League and how they might impact the games that count … The three most watched players right now from a health standpoint are Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant and Yao Ming. D-Wade’s entire preseason was almost shorter than Kanye‘s “Power” video, but all sources say he and his hamstring will be ready for Opening Night. Read More »

You Know It’s NBA Preseason When … Lamar Odom is guest-commentating at the announcer’s table during the second quarter, and he’s still wearing his warm-ups. Assuming L.O. wasn’t going commando under the sweats, he could have conceivably moved directly from his seat next to Mark Jackson to the court … For the most part, though, intensity was the name of last night’s Lakers/Warriors game in Ontario, Calif., which was technically a “neutral” site but definitely housed a pro-Lakers crowd. Fill-in coach Brian Shaw even had Kobe Bryant (22 pts, 7 asts) and Pau Gasol in for most of the fourth quarter and some of overtime, while G-State ran Monta Ellis and David Lee almost all night … Read More »

Well, it’s a good thing I didn’t leave early today – not that I ever do on a Friday – because check out what arrived for me. There’s probably nothing cooler than getting a sleek, metallic briefcase from Jordan Brand addressed to you. The only thing cooler? Having one filled with an iPad and a secret note. Here’s what it said: Read More »

NBA League Pass is essential for transplanted basketball fans like me. But when I look at the price, it makes me hesitate. However, the NBA has come up with a compromise in its special online League Pass Choice Package. For just $109.99 — as opposed to $179.99 for the whole package — you can pick seven teams to follow for the whole season on League Pass Broadband.
This is great! Most fans only want to watch their hometown team, and the rest of the “good” games are on TNT, ESPN, ABC and NBA TV. Read More »
