Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 11.22 (Weekend Recap)

Raymond Felton

Weekend Wonder: Raymond Felton tore it up this past weekend, averaging 27.5 points, 3.5 threes, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 5.5 steals, 1 block and 3.5 turnovers in two games. He shot 58 percent from the field and 91 percent from the line during this stretch. Felton is having himself a solid season and has fully met expectations of a big season in a Knicks uniform so far. Who Knew Tracy McGrady Could Still Dunk?

When you hear the words Tracy McGrady and dunk in the same sentence, you probably assume it’s a We Reminisce. But during his 18 minutes of play last night against the Wizards, the following alley-oop accounted for two of his four points on the night. While he’s definitely no Blake Griffin, there’s no way Cartier Martin saw that coming.

After Blake Griffin’s Dunkfest, The NBA Should Give Him The Knicks

The Clippers may be struggling to start the season, but Blake Griffin is doing just fine in his rookie season. I was at Saturday night’s game against the Knicks, and the kid Griff was nothing short of insane. Beyond providing the crowd – and SportsCenter – with at least three of the Top 10 plays, he welcomed the Knicks’ own rookie big man Timofey Mozgov to America in style. Hope the view was nice Timmy.

Celtics officially on losing skid; Lakers officially doing work

Kevin Garnett

The Boston Celtics must’ve had the same Blake Griffin hangover that everyone else did yesterday afternoon, because the Raptors made them look just a tad too green defensively with an inspired performance. After uncharacteristically giving up 61 first-half points to an undermanned Toronto team — still waiting on Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless to suit up — Boston lost their second straight game … Nate Robinson, who was starting for an injured Rajon Rondo, scored 16 of his 22 points in the first quarter as Boston led by double-digits early. But then Andrea Bargnani (29 pts) went about the task of shooting Kevin Garnett‘s face off. Read More »

Rudy Gay’s buzzer-beater hands the Heat a milestone loss

Rudy Gay

The Miami Heat reached another milestone on Saturday — their first loss to a bad/sub-.500 team. Granted, D-Wade was out (wrist), and replacement Jerry Stackhouse looked every bit his 46 years out there. And granted, the Heat were on the road for the second part of a back-to-back. But the Grizzlies had issues too: They were also on Part 2 of a back-to-back after a tough loss in D.C., and they didn’t have O.J. Mayo or Zach Randolph for the first quarter since they’d gotten benched for being late to shootaround. So how did Miami lose this one? Because Z-Bo and Rudy Gay took it from them … Read More »

Westbrook covers for Durant, leads Thunder upset in Boston

Russell Westbrook

Kevin Durant has been a mere mortal this season. Yes, he is leading the NBA in scoring (28.0 ppg), but his shooting percentages are down significantly, and his OKC Thunder are looking more like a low-seed playoff team in the West rather than the conference title threat so many people expected to see. The Durant hype train has slowed down a little, but last night he might have reaffirmed his MVP contender status by sitting on the bench. With Durant (ankle) and Jeff Green out for the Thunder’s game in Boston, the team had no offensive flow whatsoever in the fourth quarter and were thoroughly outplayed. Read More »

Clip Of The Day: The Dirk Stars As The Jerk

What would happen if Dirk Nowitzki was cast in the role of Navin R. Johnson from the Steve Martin classic The Jerk? Obviously, minds would be blown! After all, he was born a tall, German child…

DeMarcus Cousins Is The Next Danny Fortson

Danny Fortson

As hard as it is to imagine, Danny Fortson and DeMarcus Cousins share some interesting similarities. They both can play the center position, though Danny is grossly undersized. They were both drafted into similar struggling franchises (Fortson, Denver in ’97 and Cousins, Sacramento in ’10). Their rookie numbers are comparable with Fortson putting up 10.2 points and 5.6 rebounds and Cousins putting up 10.8 point and 6.6 rebounds, while both averaging 22.6 minutes of burn. The most eerie of similarities though has to be their uncanny ability to consistently bite on the upfake. I’ll let Bill Simmons explain the rest: Read More »
