DeJuan Blair Makes Emeka Okafor Eat Some Basketball
I think DeJuan Blair and the Spurs made it clear last night who’s going to win the Southwest Division this year.

WOW! You know it’s a big dunk when Shane Battier‘s own teammates are jumping off the bench. I think you can even see him crack a smile at the end. Is this the season’s Dunk of the Year so far? We’re sure Russell Westbrook has plenty more where this came from.
While Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans are both off to great starts this season, D-Rose took ‘Reke to school over the weekend. Check out the mean crossover in the paint below.

Weekend Warrior: Jason Richardson steamrolled through the weekend, averaging 34 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 0.5 blocks and 6 threes in two games played. He shot 63 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free-throw line. Richardson’s been huge for his owners and has been putting up top-20 averages so far this season. Read More »

Raymond Felton could’ve gone to sleep immediately after the Knicks’ double-overtime win in Detroit — where he seriously did look like he was going to drop at any moment — and he would still be tired and sick. That’s what happens when you arrive at the arena with a stomach virus, then proceed to go out and play 53 minutes and put up 23 points and 11 assists. Felton’s jumper was off (5-17 FG), but he got into the lane and to the line like a slow-mo Derrick Rose, and ran the pick-and-roll with a Nash-like precision … For the Pistons, Tayshaun Prince could’ve packed ice on his entire body and he’d still be on fire. Ignore the names, and on paper it doesn’t look that bad: An NBA team with an entirely overhauled roster is missing its best three-point shooter (a starter) and its best rebounder/energy guy (sixth man) to injuries while their record floats barely above .500 through the first month of the season. It’s not like we haven’t seen the Spurs start slow before going into Red Dead Redemption mode, or we haven’t seen the Lakers tread water while they had key guys hurt. But this version of the Miami Heat – with LeBron and D-Wade and Chris Bosh, with Pat Riley pulling the strings – they weren’t supposed to struggle like this. So after last night’s normally justifiable loss at Dallas, the Heat are the only team in the NBA that is comfortably in playoff position but still facing the question, “What’s wrong with y’all?” Read More »

We don’t need anyone to explain Carmelo Anthony‘s theatrics last night. He’s a better closer than The Closer. But can someone please tell us why John Lucas III was in the game taking crunch-time free throws? Signed just hours before the Bulls had to face the Nuggets without Derrick Rose (neck), Lucas was summoned off the bench — despite the fact that C.J. Watson was doing just fine carving up Denver’s defense for 33 points — for the final few minutes of a closely-contested game. With 12.9 seconds left, Chicago was up one and Lucas was at the line. He bricked both, almost breaking the backboard with the first. On the other end, was there anyone out there who didn’t expect ‘Melo (22 pts, 8 asts) to win it? Read More »

“There’s always one talented young guy who gets made into an example when a new coach is trying to instill a culture change.”
I wrote that earlier this week in reference to the Philadelphia 76ers and third-year power forward Marreese Speights, whose status within the organization has gone from future building block to nearly out of the rotation under first-year coach Doug Collins. In New Jersey, as Avery Johnson attempts to turn around a franchise that hit rock bottom last season, Terrence Williams has become the other Speights. Read More »
While there’s been tons of fervor all over the ‘net for the following commercial mashup, let us be clear: this was not done by Nike, Jordan Brand nor Wieden+Kennedy. And furthermore, it was not Michael Jordan‘s response to LeBron James. It was created by Tom Hinueber. With that said, check it out below and then click after the jump to see both of the ads in their original state.
While Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom attempt the first-ever 3D-peat, Khloe Kardashian pops up out of nowhere after the jump.
