How Many Times Is Tony Parker Going To Get His Layup Blocked?

First it was Aaron Brooks in the preseason. Then it was rookie Eric Bledsoe in November. Last night, it was Jason Kidd‘s turn to swat a Tony Parker layup to closeout 2010. This is a bad trend if you ask me…

What do you think?

How many times are you gonna keep hating on Tony Parker?

    @Mike

Haha. No hate, but I’ve never seen a point guard channel Reggie Miller more on the fastbreak layup than TP.

  • Arno

So it happened thrice in three months, while qcoring more than any other PG in the paint while being 6-1 ?

    Who cares ?

D Wade was blocked thrice in his last game (but still attacked the rim, got 45 and won the game).

Having your shot rejected is no more important than missing a shot or a pass… except, of course, if you live by some ancient macho code.

You have got to be kidding me right aron? The dude makes a living in the paint; if anything little point guards should be emulating his game. When ur in the paint as often as he is its inevitable that ur shot will be blocked more often than others. Its like clowning a guy for being dunked on when he challenges a dunk attempt (unlike lebron who ducks and hides).

    See wha i did there?

7 seconds in the Paint for TD!!!

    Pathetic post.

    Parker is 234-455 so far this year. It’s a .514 fg%.

I think you guys are missing the point. They didn’t say TP getting blocked a couple times was indicative of his FG or his abilities. He’s just gotten blocked a few times and its worth noting.

It’s nice to bring out the playground feel even in the serious “stats based” NBA, even if it’s only a little bit

    @AP
I don’t understand the Reggie Miller reference.

  • That’s What’s Up

It’s hard to make layups when those three championship rings are weighing your hand down

  • Manu14

The good thing is that AT LEAST you’re talking about Tony Parker…

@ haslem – as in, Reggie got blocked from behind by Tayshaun Prince in the playoffs. Good reference AP!

Ha I’m with you AP, yea TP’s a great player and all but he does seem to get blocked from behind a lot!

  • MrFreezy

it’s funny because Kidd is older than Parker by like 9 years

  • Jooks

    Tony should dunk it.

    Oh wait …

Sorry, I forgot this guy CANNOT dunk !

    it’s a parker steal party!!

kidd is old school. younger guys might give up and let tony finish it without problems. as for tony being blocked, so what? unlike some other guys, he chased ball back, tried to get it. some others might get theirs head down or pout, asked for foul….

  • Commenters Resolution

LOL… It goes both ways. Would you rather him throw up a floater on a breakaway lay up?

Then again… These aren’t his shots getting tipped and then barely rimming out. These are soul crushing blocks delivered by other point guards.

  • superfreak

anyone else impressed that kidd still has ups like that?

  • AirKaris

kidd is just mad that he never went to the spurs when he had the chance in 2003… hahaha.
