U.S. Customs Harasses Man Over New Li-Ning Shoes

Our friends at Li-Ning had a little problem importing their latest breakthrough sneaker, the F2 (which stands for Foam Frame). Shipments of the single-mold shoe were held up by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, delaying their launch in the States. Conspiracy theories abound as to the reason for the F2’s delay in customs. Was it the radical design that caused inspectors to think the product was something more nefarious than shoes? Could it have been pressure from sneaker competitors? Watch and find out.

The Wolves are getting their franchise point guard back

Jonny Flynn

The Minnesota Timberwolves are in 14th place in the Western Conference. Only one team (the Clippers) has fewer wins than the four W’s the Wolves have accumulated. And yet, they’re still better than a lot of analysts predicted during the preseason.

The Wolves have been competitive. They came within a few overtime possessions of snapping San Antonio’s early-season win streak when it was up to 11. They hung around with the Lakers before losing by five. They upset the Bucks in the second game of the season before the reigning Eastern Conference 6-seed began its current tailspin. Read More »

The Knicks Have Finally Found Their Franchise Point Guard

Amar’e! Where are we going to dinner?” Raymond Felton shouted across the locker room to the guy itching to get out the door, already completely dressed and fending off a few straggling reporters after he had just finished up with an entire legion of them around his corner locker.

“Wait on me after this!” Felton motioned towards the throng of seven or eight cameras and tape recorders around his face. Stoudemire nodded, answering affirmatively with an animated “Yeah!” as he bounded out into the bathroom. Read More »

Duke vs. Michigan State: The All-Time Alumni Showdown

If Kemba Walker hadn’t decided to turn into Tiny Archibald in Maui, tonight’s Duke vs. Michigan State matchup (ESPN, 9:30 p.m. EST) would be a meeting of the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation.

Despite their blemished record, No. 6 Michigan State is still considered a Final Four favorite and regarded as the toughest challenge the defending national champion Blue Devils will face in the regular season. Currently, these are the top two teams in college basketball. How do they match up historically? Read More »

Top 10 Greatest NBA Homecomings

When an individual puts their heart, sweat and soul into something for an extended period of time, it can be extremely hard letting go. On the other hand, being stuck in a position where you’re not progressing, may make a task less novel to you and consequently push you to abandon what you have invested so much of your time and energy into and try something new.

After a long tenure with one specific team, usually from Draft Day, NBA players inevitably come to that road where two paths diverge and they have to decide to either remain with their current team until retirement (i.e. John Stockton, Reggie Miller) or carve out a new path with a different team. However, the moment that player who has taken a new path and joins another organization returns to play a game against his original employer, that game takes on a whole new meaning. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 12.1

Danny Granger

Beast of the Night: Danny Granger crowned the Kings with 37 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 3 threes last night. He shot 63 percent (12-19) from the field, 91 percent (10-11) from the line and had four turnovers. Despite the talk of cutting back his minutes, Granger is playing about a minute more per game and has mostly maintained his averages from last season. Read More »

Amar’e vs. Lopez in MSG shootout; Kobe’s Lakers lose three straight

Amar'e Stoudemire

If you ever questioned the difference between a “quiet” basketball performance and a loud one, you wouldn’t anymore after watching last night’s Knicks/Nets game. The Dime crew was at MSG for the latest chapter of the renewed rivalry — OK, well, it’s getting there — and the duel between Amar’e Stoudemire and Brook Lopez. While Brook had the most quiet 36 points (14-24 FG) you could imagine, on a bunch of short jumpers and putback layups and simple hook shots, Stoudemire’s 35 points (13-22 FG) were loud as all get-out.
