Nike Zoom Kobe VI Viral Spot – “Ophidiophobia”

Recently I had the chance to be a part of Nike Basketball’s new viral spot for the Nike Zoom Kobe VI titled, “Ophidiophobia.” In case you didn’t know, ophidiophobia means the abnormal fear of snakes – which is thankfully something that I don’t have. And yes, that was a real snake! Check it out and let me know what you think.

Shotloc Shot of the Week: Eddie House fined $25,000 for paying homage to Sam Cassell

You knew this was coming. Eddie House has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for his “obscene gesture” during yesterday’s Heat/Thunder game — that being his interpretation of the Sam Cassell Big Balls Dance, a.k.a. the Pedro Cerrano Dance.

Carmelo Anthony needs to watch “Brick City”

Carmelo Anthony

As Carmelo Anthony and the Nuggets go into Newark, N.J., tonight to take on the Nets in the Prudential Center, this will be the Nuggets first visit to New Jersey since Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov put the kibosh on that potential ‘Melo blockbuster trade.

With the Nets still in need of an All-Star caliber player and the timetable for the Nets relocation to Brooklyn in constant limbo, the documentary series “Brick City” may be just what the Nets need to attract somebody to their temporary home. Read More »

Dime NBA Power Ranking: The Last Team You Want To Play Against

Ray Allen

The truth about it? The NBA regular season, at least for the teams that hold visions of championships, is just an 82-session practice for the playoffs. So rather than worry about who is the unofficial “best” or “worst” team in the League right now, let’s look at which team is most equipped for the truly important games.

In other words: Who is the last team you’d want to see in a seven-game series to decide it all? In this case, the last shall be first (in the rankings), while the first (as in the easiest series fodder) shall be last. If that makes sense. Read More »

Kobe Bryant’s New Trailer For The Black Mamba Starring Kanye West

This past weekend, I was in L.A. with the fam from Nike Basketball and Nike Sportswear to check out everything they have planned for NBA All-Star Weekend. And while there are a lot of things I can’t tell you, this much I can: It’s going to be ridiculous!

After catching the Celtics victory over the Lakers, we headed over to the Nike Vault to see the second trailer for Kobe Bryant‘s new film, The Black Mamba, with director Robert Rodriguez and the Mamba himself in the house. While I was surprised as you not to see the role of The Boss played by Rick Ross, I guess Kanye West will do…

The next Kobe vs. Shaq: Finding the NBA’s growing rivalries

Rajon Rondo

With all the directions you could take in promoting yesterday’s Lakers/Celtics game — NBA Finals rematch, NBA Finals preview, legendary franchises collide, Future Hall of Famers Summit — it’s a good thing nobody tried to hype it as Kobe vs. Shaq. That rivalry, as Justin Timberlake would sing it, is dead and gone.

Kobe dropped 41 points on Sunday. Shaq went scoreless. There was one moment when Kobe baited Shaq into a foul before hitting a tough baseline shot, then made a show out of glaring at his ex-teammate/ex-nemesis, but otherwise there was nothing to see. Read More »

Danilo Gallinari uses his ice grill at the wrong moment

Usually it’s the guy who delivers the poster dunk that is all snarls and sneers and mean-mugs. Apparently Danilo Gallinari doesn’t operate that way. Maybe he was mad that Tayshaun Prince‘s dunk on him last night overshadowed the poster dunk Gallo had just delivered on Greg Monroe moments earlier.

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 1.31 (Weekend Recap)

Stephen Curry

Weekend Wonder: Stephen Curry steamrolled through the weekend by averaging 27 points, 4.5 rebounds, six assists, two steals, 0.5 blocks and 3.5 threes in two games. He shot 60 percent from the field, 100 percent from the line and averaged 2.5 turnovers. After a somewhat forgettable December, Curry has managed to lift most of his averages in January and should maintain top-10 value the rest of the way. Read More »

Jason Williams to the Grizzlies: Don’t sign me

Jason Williams

You might have missed it last week, but a 12-year active NBA veteran point guard — with a championship ring and who three times finished in the League’s top 10 in assists for a season — became available. Playing one of the game’s most coveted positions, you would think some contending team would be interested. And yet Jason Williams is still waiting for work. Read More »

Celtics beat L.A. despite Kobe Bryant’s scoring outburst

Kevin Garnett

Tony Allen, Tom Thibodeau and Big Baby’s personal pork chef could have filled in for ABC’s announce crew and told you how yesterday’s Lakers/Celtics game was going to turn out. To put it simply: Kobe Bryant cannot beat Boston by himself. Despite 41 points (16-29 FG) from the Black Mamba, L.A. saw its slim halftime lead slip away as the C’s dominated most of the second half in a convincing 109-96 win on Kobe’s floor in what was supposed to be a Game of the Year candidate … Read More »
