Fantasy Basketball 2010-11 Midseason Report Card

Kevin Durant, Dime #51
Believe it or not, we’re already at the midpoint of the 2010-11 NBA regular season. That means it’s time to get out our rearview mirrors and crystal balls to look back on the fantasy fallout from the first half of the season and set expectations for the rest of the way.
Just like last year, we’ll use a crude grading system: The first letter grade after each player’s name will be based on their performance thus far, in addition to how they’ve fallen short of, met or exceeded expectations; and the second grade will be based on their projected value for the second half of the season.
Players will be grouped by position and ranked based on their approximate Yahoo! average-based rankings so far this season. After the grades are four lists for your enjoyment and, possibly, enlightenment.

OJ_Mayo_Owner says:
Nice call on O.J. Mayo. I noticed there’s no grade for him. He’s on my fantasy team and it’s been a rough ride. I don’t have any qualms on holding on to to him if he produces up to even just reasonable expectations. However, that’s not what he’s been giving his owners. Question: if you have a team that’s strong in big man categories, is there any point in keeping a middle of the road guard like Mayo’s been this season? Should I cut my losses, free up a roster spot, and see what I can get off the waivers that might actually help me? Or should I wait it out and see if he’s moved during the trading deadline? Assume no one in my league will trade for him.

are we sure Mike Miller is still alive????

The Fantasy Doctor says:
@OJ_Mayo_Owner: If there’s a solid waiver-wire gem available, don’t hesitate to make the swap. He has a small window of opportunity if, like you mentioned, he’s dealt, but it shouldn’t influence your take on him too much.
@dmitry of jersey: I just checked — yep, he’s still got a pulse.
