Monta Ellis should be an All-Star

Monta Ellis (photo. Bethany Gilbert)

The NBA All-Star Game is like the high school prom. The cool kids act like they don’t really want to be there, but rarely shy from an opportunity to steal the show; freshmen rarely get to go; the real attractions are the pre- and post-prom parties; the whole thing is traditionally overrated; and for all the pomp and circumstance, a lot of people end up complaining about the experience more than anything. And yet anybody who doesn’t get an invite feels like a loser. Read More »

Clippers GM Guarantees Blake Griffin Will Never Leave

Blake Griffin

For the first time since Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson were pulling out the antennas, it’s trendy to be a Clippers fan. They’ve won 10 of their last 14 games, with wins over the Lakers and Heat, and Blake Griffin is making everyone find their boy with NBA League Pass whenever the Clip Show are on. But after so many years of disappointment, you can understand why management is trying to assure their fan base now that B.G. isn’t going anywhere when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2014. Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 1.20

Danny Granger

Beast of the Night: Danny Granger took advantage of playing the Warriors by producing 32 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals, one block and four three-pointers. He shot 58 percent (11-19) from the field, 75 percent (6-8) from the line and had seven turnovers. This was his second straight game with 32 points, though Granger has been mostly disappointing lately. His owners might want to try and sell high now. Read More »

The Perfect Carmelo Anthony Trade

Carmelo Anthony

When the once-inevitable Nets/Nuggets deal that would have sent Carmelo Anthony east publicly fell apart yesterday afternoon, a glimmer of hope must have shot through several NBA front offices and fan bases. Unless breaking off negotiations is a bluff from Mikhail Prokhorov to get some sort of last-second concessions from Melo and/or the Nuggets (which it very well could be), the door now appears to be open for another team to step in and snag Carmelo.

As the Nuggets gauge Melo interest levels throughout the league, there is one team that I think can make a simple deal for Carmelo that makes everyone happy. Read More »

DeMar DeRozan Replaces Brandon Jennings In The Dunk Contest

DeMar DeRozan

You had to kind of see this coming. Not because we didn’t think Brandon Jennings could bring it, but rather he’s missed 14 games with a fractured bone in his left foot. With that, the NBA announced this morning that last year’s runner-up, DeMar DeRozan will be taking his talents back home to Los Angeles. And sorry Blake, but this changes everything. Read More »

Nets eliminated from Carmelo chase; Griffin vs. K-Love in L.A.

Carmelo Anthony

Crazy night in the NBA, with overtime finishes, upsets, comebacks, a head-to-head matchup of two of the best players in the League, another head-to-head matchup of two of the most talked-about players in the League, and (maybe) some kind of resolution on the Carmelo Anthony situation … Hours before Nuggets/Thunder tipped off, ‘Melo learned he won’t be playing for the Nets — at least not this season. Tonight, the Virginia Cavaliers (10-7) visit the conference-leading Boston College Eagles (13-5) in what should be a great ACC battle. With that said, I thought y’all might be interested in checking out detailed photos of Virgnia’s new Nike Hyper Elite uniform for this season. Read More »

Tyreke Evans: Designed to Destroy

Tyreke Evans

NBA Rookie of the Year. Franchise centerpiece. An unmovable place in history alongside Jordan, Oscar and LeBron. Tyreke Evans was made for this. The 21-year-old Sacramento King is on a course to take over the basketball world, a goal that was in his sights before he even knew it.

Midway through his sophomore year, Tyreke is averaging 17.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists while playing through a painful foot injury for most of the season. His Kings are still looking up in the standings at the rest of the West, but their go-to player gives the organization no reason not to be optimistic. Read More »

PEAK Dorell Wright Player Exclusive

After signing with Golden State this summer, Dorell Wright has taken his game to a whole new level – a level that should include Most Improved Player Award consideration.
