Dime Q&A: Daniel Gibson Tells All

Daniel Gibson

Last year was a rough 365 days for fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs fell apart in the playoffs, have started this year at a chilling 8-26 and in between were victims of LeBronGate. Through it all though, Daniel “Boobie” Gibson has remained a fan favorite. And now for the first time in his career, he’s been asked to be more than just a role player, more than just a standstill shooter. While Gibson has missed the past few games with a leg injury, he’s averaging career highs across the board with 13.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. We caught up with him recently to chat about his new role on this season’s squad and what it takes to become a deadly shooter. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 1.4

LeBron James

Beast of the Night: LeBron James finished with 38 points, nine rebounds, five assists, one steal and two threes last night against the Bobcats. He shot 58 percent (15-26) from the field, 100 percent (6-6) from the free-throw line and had three turnovers. All is well in the kingdom of LeBron, who has lifted his fantasy value from the slump it was in earlier this season. Read More »

LeBron, D-Wade, Bosh almost beat Bobcats by themselves

LeBron James

There were a couple of sharks in the water in Charlotte last night, and neither one of them played for the home team. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James smelled blood in the arena, and almost immediately went about splurging with some devastating results. Miami ran away from the Bobcats in the second half en route to a 14-point win led by James (38 points) and Wade (31 points). Throw in the 11 points from the third leg of the tripod, Chris Bosh, and they were just one bucket away from beating Charlotte by themselves … Read More »

If you could have anyone’s game in the NBA, whose would it be?

Chris Paul

Now that Christmas wish lists have been addressed (or ignored), it’s time for New Year’s resolutions. So in other words, if you missed out on something you wanted as a gift, now you can resolve to work for it.

If only it worked that way in basketball. Surely Rajon Rondo wouldn’t mind opening a fancy box on Dec. 25 containing a consistent three-point shooting stroke — and surely a lot of Boston fans would have lined up to give that box to Rondo as a gift — but in reality, he has to work on hitting threes. Dime NBA Power Ranking: 2011 New Year’s Resolution Edition

Ron Artest

Ranking the NBA from worst to first, along with 2011 New Year’s resolutions…

30. Cleveland Cavaliers (8-26) Mo Williams resolves to find a way out of this mess. So does Antawn Jamison. And J.J. Hickson. And Jamario Moon. And Byron Scott. The Cavs have lost 17 of their last 18 games, and if they don’t keep tabs on their guys, Manny Harris is going to be the best player on the team before you know it. Read More »

Ohio State sniper Jon Diebler is a national championship X-factor

Contrary to popular belief, Ohio State was not a one-man team last season. Evan Turner cleaned up on National Player of the Year awards like Lauryn Hill at the Grammys, but Mr. Do-It-All didn’t really have to do it all for the Buckeyes during their run to the Sweet Sixteen.

One member of that overlooked supporting cast was Jon Diebler, now a senior two-guard on an OSU squad that is 14-0 and ranked No. 2 in the country. Diebler (12.4 ppg) is hitting 51 percent of his treys this season as part of the crew surrounding freshman superstar big man Jared Sullinger. Read More »
