Boston Celtics Visibly Shaken By Kendrick Perkins Trade

Part of this certainly has to do with losing to a patchwork, first-time-playing-together, no-superstar Nuggets team on national TV last night, but there was clearly something larger at play. There were reports all day yesterday that the Celtics‘ vets were “livid” over the monster Kendrick Perkins trade, and now we have some visual evidence of the distress from the Celtics’ locker room after last night’s game in Denver.

Here are two videos we came across on CelticsLife.com, one of Paul Pierce and one of KG, that show two guys who aren’t necessarily “livid,” but upset, and most of all, confused by the trade. I mean, Pierce looks like he’s about to cry:

We were all scratching our heads in the Dime office yesterday when we heard about the Perk trade, but during last night’s TNT broadcast, Steve Kerr gave it some perspective that makes real sense. Heading into the season, Boston assumed they’d have to figure out how to deal with bigs like Dwight, Amar’e and Chris Bosh. With the way the season has played out, now their real concern is how to deal with LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Melo. Until yesterday, there was no one on the Celtics roster able to guard any of those three for an extended period of time. Pierce has shown that he can do a good job on LeBron, but has nothing left on the offensive end of the floor. Jeff Green better be ready to get after it on defense….
