John Wall to Blake Griffin: The most creative alley-oop of 2011
On his way to 22 assists in last night’s Rookie Challenge, MVP John Wall set up crowd favorite Blake Griffin with some AND 1 mixtape flavor. (Thanks to reader Layzie for remining me that this wasn’t the “best” alley-oop of the year — that would be D-Wade‘s 90-footer to LeBron. All-Star makes us all a little over-hyped.)

if lebron had of dunked it, maybe… wall/griffin was way more entertaining. but that’s what that game is about – 2 very different situations.

Are you guys honestly comparing an exhibition game play to a play in the middle of a tightly contested regular season game?
That said: this was incredible.

dagwaller says:
Do we take points away from Bron/Wade for it being a layup? A nasty play for sure, but if we’re penalizing Wall/Griffin for it being in an All-Star, let’s be fair.

DJ Leon Smith says:
Isiah Thomas did the same thing about 20 years ago during a regular season game. Only difference was the guy dunking it (Gerald Glass I think?) rattled the dunk in which deducted some cool points. Still, amazing pass by Wall there.

@DJ Leon Smith Great Find! I nearly forgot about that play, that was in game too and to a no namer. Isiah Thomas > John Wall.
