We dropped the news today: Blake Griffin is on the new cover of Dime. We shot the impending NBA Rookie of the Year at the Clippers Training Center in Playa Vista, Calif., and had the cameras there to capture what went down. Check it out and let us know what you think…
Some day next decade, when they write the Wikipedia version of Blake Griffin’s basketball career, the pieces will all fit together sensibly. He was a high school All-American (and won the McDonald’s national dunk contest), then a college All-American, then the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. So of course he would take the League by storm as soon as possible, running (and jumping, and dunking) away with the Rookie of the Year trophy and leading the woeful L.A. Clippers back to being a real-life pro sports franchise. Read More »
I think I’ll leave this one to The Hoop Scene: “Why, Kyle Korver? Why did you jump? What in your career makes you think you could have stopped this? Did JaVale McGee not teach you this exact lesson earlier in the season? Some people never learn…”
Blake Griffin can do a lot of things for the Clippers, but stopping Derrick Rose isn’t on the list. The hype leading up to the game the previous week was enormous on campus. Students were waiting for hours in between classes to try to win tickets in a raffle and general admission tickets for the Madison Square Garden showdown sold out days after they went on sale. Read More »
If you’re a regular reader of this site, you know that we are champions of Rajon Rondo and his partnership with Red Bull and Boston’s Got Wings. Those funds are then used to refurbish city basketball courts in need of repair. At every 30-steal milestone, funding is allocated to a park decided by community voting. Thanks to Rajon, some high-traffic courts in the shadow of Fenway Park are about to get a makeover. Read More »
If you didn’t cop Rajon Rondo or Deron Williams’ version of the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low, you should think strongly about getting Steve Nash‘s version. Maybe it’s the purple and orange accents, or maybe it’s Nash’s signature logo embellished on the heel, but either way I like it. Check ‘em out: Read More »
