Breaking News: Deron Williams To New Jersey

Deron Williams

Well this is crazy! Just a day after the Nets missed out on another big player acquisition, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Nets have traded for Deron Williams, while sending Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and two first-round picks to the Jazz. New Jersey will also send Troy Murphy to Golden State, and the Warriors will send Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright to the Nets. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 2.23

Brandon Jennings

Beast of the Night: Brandon Jennings finished with 27 points, three rebounds, seven assists, three steals, two blocks and two three-pointers last night. He shot 41 percent (7-17) from the field, 92 percent (11-12) from the free-throw line and had just one turnover. Jennings has been pretty solid for much of this month so far, but his Achilles heel continues to be his poor shooting from the field. This isn’t going to change anytime soon. Read More »

Lakers snap three-game skid by grounding Hawks; Blake in OKC

Pau Gasol

Trying to stop a three-game losing streak, start the post-All-Star portion of the season on a good note, and simply protect their home court against one of the NBA’s better teams, the Lakers had a big test in front of them against the Hawks. We just didn’t know it was as big as Chris Webber made it sound. “They need to put the fear of this sport into others,” C-Webb said. So the Lakers needed to make the Hawks fear basketball? That’s heavy … But they may have done just that. Derek Fisher got the ball rolling, sticking three straight jumpers after tip-off to help L.A. get out to an 8-0 lead before Atlanta scored. NBA All-Star Weekend: In Pictures

Skullcandy

As I said earlier, from games to parties to appearances, there wasn’t a free second to be had during NBA All-Star Weekend. So for those of you that weren’t able to make the trip, I wanted to give you an inside-look into everything that was going on. With that, check out the entire weekend in pictures (and be sure to click on the next day at the end of the post). Read More »

How DeMarcus Cousins Affects The NBA Fate Of Renardo Sidney & Joshua Smith

If there were a general consensus among NBA scouts of having a “type,” those once-in-a-lifetime prospects that they’ve got to have, then the 6-10, 300-pound big man with a silky jumper and crafty footwork would be it.

You know, guys like the the Sacramento rookie DeMarcus Cousins, who can shoot from 20-feet out before overwhelming opponents in the paint, scoring with their feathery hook shots with ease. Those are the type that can win you a ring. Only if they came without the baggage. By my count, college basketball has two of those guys: Mississippi State’s Renardo Sidney and UCLA’s Joshua Smith. Carmelo Anthony To Wear No. 7 In New York

Carmelo Anthony

While last night a source close to Carmelo Anthony told me that he would most likely wear No. 13 in New York, today a new source has confirmed to me that ‘Melo will wear No. 7 for the Knicks – despite Kelenna Azubuike already wearing that number. One potential reason why Anthony shied away from No. 13 could be because the Knicks plan on retiring the number for Mark Jackson, a Brooklyn native who played seven seasons in New York. Read More »

5 NBA players to watch after the All-Star Break

Kobe Bryant

Though it’s ultimately a series of meaningless exhibitions, NBA All-Star Weekend can motivate certain players going into the post-break stretch of the season.

Whether it’s a player who shined this past weekend or someone who was snubbed and spent the time stewing at home, what happened in L.A. could realistically have an impact on the championship race — or at least make the second half of the season more interesting. Here are five players to watch as the NBA resumes action tonight: Read More »

On Thursday, we told you about rolling VIP with Snoop Dogg during All-Star Weekend. And for those of you that did, you probably know that Snoop’s squad took home the title at the inaugural adiHOOP 3-on-3. (The “West Coasters” featured Snoop, Game and Chris Brown, and were coached by Matt Barnes.) Ken Jeong (a.k.a. Slim Chin) and DJ Neil Armstrong were also in the house, as well as Serge Ibaka, Jrue Holiday, Wesley Johnson and Toney Douglas. Check out the recap below:

The 3 Worst Anti-Carmelo Anthony Arguments

Carmelo Anthony

I’m not even sure anymore if I should congratulate Knicks fans for acquiring Carmelo Anthony.

Ever since last night’s three-team, 12-player deal that put ‘Melo where he’s wanted to be all along went through, the reaction hasn’t been what I expected. While some NY fans are elated, the move has been met with more skepticism than I would have imagined. For a franchise that hasn’t sniffed a 50-win season since 2001, putting together a Big Three of Carmelo, Chauncey Billups and Amar’e is a good thing. Read More »
