Kevin Durant Steals Hearts in Philly; Michael Jordan names his MVP

The Clippers looked like another L.A. team during their five-point win in Boston. DeAndre Jordan (21 points, 9 rebounds) was a pogo stick inside as he picked up the slack from the first bad game from Blake Griffin (12 points, 7 rebounds) that we can remember. The Clippers answered every Celtics run run with big shots, including a couple of huge threes from Mo Williams (28 points) to quash the inevitable Boston rushes late in the game … At the start of the second quarter for the Celtics, Boston had a lineup on the floor of Sasha Pavlovic, Troy Murphy, Jeff Green, Nenad Krstic, and Carlos Arroyo – not one of them was on the roster two weeks ago … Chicago showed the Bobcats exactly what playoff-style defense is all about last night, wearing them down in a 17-point Bull win. You can tell D.J. Augustin (6 points) hates playing against Derrick Rose (20 points, 6 assists). It dates all the way back to college when Rose disrobed the little guy in the NCAA tournament. This is like one of those instances where there’s that one kid growing up who, now matter how ill your outfit is, he always one ups you at every party. It feels like he’s doing it on purpose. Next time they play, Augustin better come with the purple bowtie if he wants to hold his own … After the game Michael Jordan told reporters this about Rose: “MVP of the season. He deserves it. He’s playing that well. He deserves it. Without a doubt. And if he doesn’t get it, now he’ll see how I felt a lot of years.” … Some of the Dime Crew was at New Jersey’s four-point win over the Warriors: Brook Lopez (26 points, 10 rebounds), who still has Valentine’s gift-wrapping paper in his locker, was shooting a couple of game-ending free throws. Even though it was only a two-point game, Kim Kardashian started walking out. Right before she exited, a tanned crony tapped her on the shoulder, so she looked up at the scoreboard for a split second and continued on her way … Other headlines from around the league: Al Jefferson scored 34 points and had the game-winning layup at the buzzer as Utah beat Toronto by two; Minnesota was led by Kevin Love (16 points, 21 rebounds) for his 52nd consecutive double-double in a 26-point slapping of Indiana; Brandon Jennings (18 points) and the Bucks won by 20 against Cleveland; San Antonio beat Detroit by seven behind Tony Parker (23 points); Orlando snuck by the Kings by four as Jameer Nelson (26 points) went off; and the Hornets rode Jarrett Jack (21 points) in the fourth quarter during an unbelievable one-point comeback win over Dallas … If you thought NBA refs were bad, we hope you caught the Rutgers and St. John’s Big East Tournament game yesterday. St. John’s Justin Brownlee stole a pass with his team up two in the final seconds, but then traveled and stepped out of bounds while celebrating with almost two seconds left. Nothing was called and time ran out. The refs screwed up so bad, the Big East had to issue an apology. Rutgers wasn’t just robbed. It was like they got jumped in the middle of a foreign country, had all of their money, phones and passports stolen, and then had to watch as the assailant drove off with the car … As we told you yesterday, there was another big game in New Jersey last night. Number-two St. Anthony’s beat their inner-state rivals, number-one St. Patrick’s, by 17 in a de-facto National Championship … We’re out like apologies.

lmao@ these DRose arguments. Funny, I remember the exact opposite happening this summer. Good to see guys admitting they were wrong. Also nice to see Justin Beiber making a complete douche of himself.

I have Dwight as 2nd in line for MvP because he does effect the game a lot. He also has delt with contraversy with the trades and an idiot coach. D12 also has put up good numbers to go along with winning

Problem is, Rose has had a tougher road. With his bigs being injured, New coach, new system, new team, clear cut leader of the team, plays big during crunch time, and his team has the wins to back up his claim.

I personally think MvP should be a combination of the best player in the NBA along with one of the better teams. But This year, Rose has been the best player in the L. And he has improved so much on defense its crazy.

Here is my awards race so far

    MvP: Derrick Rose

6th man: don’t know or care lol

Defensive player: Aaron Afflalo (who does D12 have to guard at center thats a tough cover? exactly)

Coach of the Year: Tom Thibadeau

    1st team All NBA

    Rose
    Kobe
    Durant
    Lebron
    Dwight

    2nd team
    Westbrook
    Wade
    Melo
    Dirk
    Amare

    3rd team
    Cp3
    Rondo
    Deron Williams
    Griffin
    Kevin Love

    1st Team all Def
    Cp3
    Afflalo
    Thabo Sefelosha
    Dwight Howard
    Josh Smith

    2nd team all def
    Rondo
    Westbrook
    Igudola
    Kevin Garnett
(toss-up between Bogut, Ty Chandler, Okafor, and Javel McGee)

Rookie of the year: Blake Griffin

    1st team all rookie
    John Wall
    G.Neal
    Landry Fields
    Griffin
    D.Cousins

    2nd team
    Bledsoe
    Evan Turner
    Wesly Johnson
    Greg monroe
    Derrick Favors

Wow, what a weak a$$ rookie class. Anyway thats a rough guess of who i think should be winning the awards.

To clarify, Dwight is 2nd in my DPOY voting, I just think Afflalo has a much harder task each night (Kobe, Wade, BRoy, Durant, Lebron, Manu)and does a great job.

It’s not about right or wrong bud. I’m asking for logical reasoning. Even if I disagree, I can respect logical reasoning. You’re throwing up bullshit.
“Howard is mvp because he stands out on Team USA.” <–see what I mean?

The title of this smack should be “jordan endorses an adidas athlete”

    @sporty
So the owners losing money should just simply move? I see you must be a business major. How do they move if they aren’t making money. You think the process to move teams is free? There’s only one Prokorov. And you do realize that Stern has policies in place to limit moves, right?

I also said in my post that the league is turning a profit off these super teams. That doesn’t necessarily mean the teams are seeng the same money. Fact: the league gets a cut of all merchandise sales, regardless of the team. The Bucks only see profits from THEIR merchandise sales. There’s a big difference in the league making money vs franchises making money. At least pretend like you know what’s going on bud. Yes, you’re right about this being the most successful season for the nba since mj, but THAT’S IN THE LEAGUE’S VIEW, not a leaguewide perspective. You need to be able to distinguish the difference to understand what I’m talking about.

“If Owners and GMs had half the brain i have instead of the 1 you got . Than maybe they
    would not be “ CRYING ” now … ”
^ ^ Nice attempt at an insult, but you do realize you said you have half a brain, right smart guy? Thanks for saying I have a whole brain while admitting you only have half. And speaking of crying… your Heat know something about that.

Dwight for MVP – On offense it is easier to put up numbers when you always have the ball in your hands. (Monta, Joe Johnson, S-Jax, Lebron) Rose is 8th in the league in scoring while Dwight is 9th. Dwight doesn’t have the luxury of calling his own play and waving guys off to go 1 on 1 with 20 seconds left in the shot clock. However Dwight could make more free throws and that would put him around 25-28 ppg.

The question here is who is the most valuable player to their team. Nash/Lebron were extremely valuable to the systems they played in which earned them 2 MVPs. Rose has been great not only keeping his team afloat but thriving. He beat the Spurs like they stole his skittles machine. Rose has gotten better on defense but the bulls as a whole have gotten better because of their coach. If you watch a game, they are rarely out of position.

Dwight has to anchor his team on both ends of the floor. On defense he patrols the paint being the intimidator. He has to block/alter shots, rebound, and cover up the deficiencies of the 4 other players on the court. Nelson not being able to handle quick or big guards, Hedo for wearing cement shoes, J-rich for cherry-picking, Bass for not getting that last growth spurt. The 2nd unit, Arenas for playing like he deserves ZERO minutes, Reddick for not being able to play with athletic players, Q-rich does an aight job, Anderson & Clark more times than not are lost on defense. Hand down on defense Howard is the most important/valuable player to his team.

On offense Rose has improved, plays the hardest position, makes the right play more times than not, creates his own shot, creates shots for others, and comes through when his team needs him. However his team has an offense in place in which if need be they could get by. QQ could testify that the down screen with Korver curling killed Orlando in their last meeting. Either it was a Korver shot from 9 feet out or a touch pass to Boozer plus 1.

Aside from Jason who on Orlando can create their own shot? Hedo? Deng and Boozer create their own shots too. For everyone else on Orlando their shots come from ball movement caused by double teams on Dwight. Without the ball he sucks weakside defenders into the paint. With the ball he draws fouls on opposing bigs. He gets about 3 or 4 offensive rebounds a game.

It is close but Dwight is more valuable to his team because without him on the floor the offense stalls and the defense doesn’t exist.

@JAY — I think he was saying that if the owners/GMs had 50% of his brainpower, they’d still be better off than if they had 100% of yours. I think.

Anyway, is anybody out there watching the Pac-10 tourney?

  • beiber newz

yay im a douche. time to change my identity so no one knows who i am from here on out ahahah bieber newz has died and will be reincarnated like pac! but who will i be? no one knows muhuhahaha muahaha muhahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • http://www.dimemag.com Austin Burton

Ask QQ about creating multiple identities.

  • beiber newz

    qq? quirky qwimby?

  • QQ

Damn AB, as I always say, I NEVER made those fake posts.

And again, just to be UP TO PAR with that blindsided response (I mean, why the f was I even inserted into the discussion about DRose being the MVP. LOL.I WASNT even part of the cats here discussing t with you.)…

Ask Austin Burton about writing in a national publication yet still keep acting like a dog drooling for Lebron’s nuts every time he writes about that player and his team.

@AB: I realize what he was trying to say, but if you read his post he really says he has half a brain. I didn’t make that up.

“If Owners and GMs had half the brain i have”

^ See? Dude has half a brain.

  • top_gun

    @Jay

Not trying to defend him but he did phrase it correctly. If he said “If Owners and GMs had half a brain like i have,” then he would be stating he has half a brain.
