Nike, Jordan Brand & Converse Present “Ever Higher”

With the 35th anniversary of Black History Month coming to an official close on Monday, Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse are taking the opportunity to recognize the basketball pioneers that they have been honoring all month with the launch of a three-part video series titled, “Ever Higher.” In the series, they discuss the greatness of their three pioneers – Julius Erving, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant – with a handful of sports and cultural influencers including Bun B, Mick Boogie, Julius Erving III, Freddie Gibbs… and me! Check ‘em out:

I love it. Everyone gets on Kobe for “biting” off Mike’s moves, but everyone forgets how Mike bit off Dr. J too. It’s not bad to wanna emulate your heroes, especially if you can pull it off successfully in NBA ball games. This type of thing shows the style morphing from Dr. J to MJ to Kobe. Doesn’t matter who’s “better” and who’s the “biter”, they’re all mad cool.

this was a pretty dope little project. Just curious how/why they got Bun-B and Freddie Gibbs to discuss basketball legends? They both spoke surprisingly well on the topic and I wouldn’t mind seeing more from the “Even Higher” campaign.

Most of those guys still didn’t wanna get caught “gushing” over Kobe like they did Jordan and Doc…I watched ‘em in order: Dr. J, then Mike, then Kobe…they totally toned it down for Kobe LOL
