There were rumors (and photos) percolating all over the interwebs last week that Blake Griffin (not Spike Lee) was dressing up as the legendary Mars Blackmon for an upcoming photo shoot, but no one seemed to know what it was for. Now we know. Watch Mars BlakeMan ask USC tight end Jordan Cameron what makes him so great. Will this help his NFL Draft stock this year? Probably not. But it will make for a good promotional video to show his grandkids.
Why, KD? Why?Count on Kevin Durant and the Thunder to screw up a perfectly good story. With Philly leading OKC for almost the entire game, we were all set to officially jump on the Sixers’ bandwagon until Oklahoma City came back to send the game into overtime, where they ended up winning by five. Durant (34 points, 16 rebounds) was a force of nature and had five straight points to end regulation, including a curl three to tie it with three seconds left. There wasn’t a whole lot Andre Iguodala could do to handle Durant, even coming off his destruction of Danny Granger on Tuesday night. The Philly color guys crooned, “With all respect to Danny Granger, this is not Danny Granger. This is a guy on another planet.” Between Durant and Russell Westbrook (27 points, 12 rebounds), Philly could never get the momentum back in the extra session. It’s hard to beat a team that has two superheroes … No one is talking about this Sixers team. Read More »

It doesn’t get bigger than this. Tonight, high school powerhouses St. Patrick (Elizabeth, N.J.) and St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) will go head-to-head at the Rutgers Athletic Center. No. 1 vs. No. 2 in New Jersey. No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the nation. Both teams are undefeated, 26-0 and 28-0 respectively, and many people are calling this a de-facto national championship. (As they should.)

Beware the Ides of March. A phrase I’m all too familiar with thanks to Ms. Valensky’s 11th grade English class, when I learned of Julius Caesar’s impending and eventual demise on the 15th of March, at the hands of Brutus. In recent history, however, the madness of “The Ides” have taken on a whole new meaning. I’m referring to the three-week stretch where college basketball fans come out of the woodwork to partake in the do-or-die festivities that is March Madness. Read More »
Yes, Shaquille O’Neal and The Notorious B.I.G. knew each other. But we didn’t know it was like this. In an ESPN “Outside The Lines” special commemorating the 14th anniversary of Biggie’s passing, we find out that O’Neal should’ve been at the fateful Soul Train Party, and that might’ve been able to make a difference had he been there. Who knows how true that is? We just know that we would’ve loved to have see more collaborations like “You Can’t Stop The Reign” from them.
