We talked about them in today’s SMACK, and now we want to bring you the visuals. Not one, but two crazy follow-up dunks by Washington’s Trevor Booker on the collective heads of the Minnesota Timberwolves:
It wasn’t surprising that the Nets and Raptors saved their best of the year for a game in London that no one outside of their respective fan bases was watching on a Saturday afternoon. That was expected. But what wasn’t expected was that it could’ve been the best NBA game all year … Maybe David Stern knew what he was doing when he scheduled an international matchup in London with New Jersey and Toronto. Two teams that were a combined 35-88 coming in ended up playing in an epic game that took nearly three and a half hours with the Nets finally getting the win. It wasn’t until Andrea Bargnani‘s (35 points, 12 rebounds) jumper was off in the third OT that New Jersey was able to survive as the winner. The game probably should never have gone as long as it did, but crazy shots from Sasha Vujacic (25 points) and Deron Williams (21 points, 18 assists) kept the game going into into the final extra period. From there, Travis Outlaw took over in the third overtime, scoring the last eight points of the night for New Jersey, including the winning free throws with only 12 seconds left … Some other big lines from the game: Read More »
Friday night was the NBA’s version of a severe hangover. Both the Magic and the Heat, just 24 hours after their epic Thursday night battle that saw Orlando come back from a 24-point, second half deficit, were both sort of sleepwalking and it showed in the results … Orlando was hosting the Bulls, and while the Magic started off well, found themselves down 14 at the half. They battled back in the second half, but you could tell that they didn’t have the juice they had the previous night against Miami and the Bulls won by eight … The big news from the game came at the end of the first half when Dwight Howard was hit in the head by Kyle Korver as DH pulled an offensive board. The refs called Korver for a foul, but when Kyle then took a swipe at the ball after the whistle, Read More »
March has brought NBA Friday back. It is that time of year when everything, and I mean everything, is geared towards getting right for the postseason. While it is officially March Madness for the NCAA, the NBA is also experiencing madness, as last night in Miami was complete pandemonium as were the final moments in Utah. Kenyon, really? Kirilenko, really? Oddest 1.5 seconds I have ever seen.

Years and years from now, kids getting buckets in the gym at Brooklyn’s Taylor-Wythe Community Center will be able to say they that they’ve played ball on the same exact floor as guys like Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose and Stephen Curry. Yesterday afternoon we were at the community center for a great event put on by Nike and the city of New York to unveil a brand new basketball court – the same exact floor used at Radio City Music Hall at this past summer’s World Basketball Festival.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Amar’e Stoudemire were both there for the unveiling Read More »
During the 2006-07 season, the NBA launched Noche Latina – otherwise known as Latin Night – to much success. In addition to special telecasts and in-arena festivities, the most noticeable difference you’ll see during the 12 Noche Latina games slated this month (schedule below) is a new set of uniforms for the Lakers, Heat, Suns, Mavericks, Bulls, Spurs and Knicks. With the first game tipping off tonight between El Heat and Los Spurs, we thought we’d show you the new threads. Check ‘em out: Read More »
The best point guard in the NBA debate is one of my favorites. On any given night, you could make the argument that Player A is better than Player B, depending on the situation and criteria you’re looking at. But one point guard whose name never enters this conversation is Baron Davis. Try telling that to him or his new coach Byron Scott, who called Davis one of the NBA’s top five point guards when healthy. Read More »

Steve Nash has 28 percent from the field in his last four games to go along with 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 11.5 assists, two turnovers and a measly 0.3 threes per game. These are not the Nashty kind of numbers we’re used to seeing from him. However, look closely at his game log and you’ll see that two of those games came against elite point guards – Deron Williams and Rajon Rondo. With a strong fantasy playoff schedule ahead of him, Nash should bounce back sooner than later. Read More »
