The Heat Crack the NBA’s Best Team; the Warriors Learn that Karma is a B**ch
The Lakers beat up the Magic in L.A., 97-84. Kobe was a game-time decision because of the ankle injury he suffered the other night, but he still started and dropped 16 on 7-19 shooting. The real story though was Andrew Bynum. He only shot 3-10 from the field, but came away with 10 points, 18 boards and four blocks. Of more significance though, he was able to keep Dwight Howard in check. Dwight still got 22 and 15 boards, but Bynum’s physicality clearly had an effect on Howard – it felt like he was under control the entire game … Dwight had us laughing when he stopped to give his halftime interview with ESPN’s Lisa Salters. She asked him about how he was dealing with Andrew Bynum, to which Dwight replied trying to not to break up on National TV, “He’s very long … pause.” … After suffocating Milwaukee on Sunday night, holding them to a shot clock era-record low off 55 points, the Boston Celtics didn’t look much better than the Bucks last night in New Jersey. Boston failed to crack 90 points for the fourth time in five games as they lost to the Nets 88-79. So what’s going on? Are they just too old and are dragging during a tough part of the season? Are they bored? There was one time in the first half when Paul Pierce was on the bench and the TV cameras showed him staring into space for several minutes. There was nobody home … There was definitely one play where Pierce was locked in: took the ball through the defense from beyond the three-point line and hammered it home for one of his multiple turn-back-the-clock dunks this season … The Nets’ Kris Humphries continued his run of impressive double-doubles with 16 points and 15 rebounds. We caught Rick Kamla in the NBA TV studio after the game yelling at Dennis Scott, “[The Nets] have to give him money! They have to lock him up!” … The Thunder continued their massacre of Eastern Conference teams last by trouncing the Wizards 116-89 in D.C. They’ve beaten Philly, Cleveland, Detroit, and now Washington in consecutive games … Kevin Durant dropped a light 32 and Kendrick Perkins made his OKC debut with six points and nine rebounds in 20 minutes of action … Chris Paul has been great since his return from a head injury. Last night against the Nuggets, it took two guards to outplay him. Raymond Felton (22 and 12 assists) and Ty Lawson (23 and 10 assists) were great, leading Denver to a 114-103 W that included 17 threes from the Nuggets. CP3 had 27 points, 10 dimes and seven steals … In Utah, the Sixers were down 18 at halftime to a Jazz squad that was missing Paul Milsap and Gordon Heyward. Philly came storming back, took the lead with under a minute to go, gave up the lead, and went to overtime where they suddenly forgot how to play basketball. A few bad shots, a few turnovers and the monster that is Al Jefferson and his 30 points and 17 boards later, and the Sixers were losers … We put on Golden State/Sacramento with seven minutes to go in the first quarter to find the Kings up 19-3. Maybe it was some karma for this? Either way, the Warriors took the loss, 129-119. Marcus Thornton had a career-high 42 … We’re out like giving Kris Humphries big money…

Denver’s PG by committee is actually quite nice, and in fact their whole team could make a somewhat deep run if the pieces fall together.
The Heat? When they are on they can beat anyone. I fully expect them to win a championship later on, maybe when they get a center who doesn’t make me gag anytime he gets the ball. Wades block on Duncan was AMAZING. Only guard who can make that play. Oh and they should totally draft Jimmer.
My C’s? Don’t care, think they are content with a number 2 seed. Rondo was GARBAGE yesterday and the past few games. I really don’t know whats wrong with them.

@jdizzle
In every instance that Bynum has gone down for extended periods b/c of knee injury, he was playing like a beast just prior (and it always takes a while for him to regain that form when he returns). Bynum has been the best center since the all-star break and he outplayed Howard last night. No problems there, but appreciating his talents and trusting his knees are two different things.

I didn’t say to take their foot off the pedal, just allow the newly acquired guys who were signed not just to fill out the roster, but to actually contribute a chance to play and get used to playing with LBJ, Wade and/or Bosh.
“This guys are capable of playing 40 minutes a night. Let em, the team will be better off.”
Hmmm.. the bench guys are watching waiting to play, they up by 20 w/ 5 mins left and coach isn’t even thinking of putting them in. Jones = 2.5 mins and Bibby = 9mins. That’s just great for the team in the long run, isn’t it?
Remember they play an 82 game season, plus playoffs on top of that. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I’m not the dude who coined the term “garbage minutes”. Coaches have been doing it for decades. I’ve seen key guys get injured late in games when the coach should have cleared the bench. Pop vs. Spo… who’s the more experienced coach? Pop has been around long enough to see that it’s possible for his studs to tweak an ankle during meaningless playing-time, so he cleared his bench.
You don’t just disagree with my opinion, you’re disagreeing with a convention. If Lebron hurt himself, you’d be singing another tune.

Wasn’t AB making a case for Lebron for MVP?? I wonder what he thinks now. Lebron has lost as many games for the Heat as he’s won for them. He’s a good passer with good vision but he’s proving that he’s not the guy you go to to make late decisions with the ball? As the best playmaker on the team, how often does he create something for a teammate late in clutch situations? Although, I admit, he’ll sometimes do something spectacular in late in games, he usually won’t create a quality shot all that often. Most of the time he’ll dribble around the court and then just jack a shot.

Exactly. Up by 25pts w/ 5 mins left, Spo could have put in the ballboys and they would have still won the game. Pops boys were already sitting. Spo must really be tripping out if he’s letting his big guns run against the 8th-12th men of the Spurs. It’s a good thing noone tweaked an ankle.

Lebron has been fine. He’s had a couple below average shooting games but he’s still putting up rebounds and assists. Now, on the other hand, Kobe and his mid-30′s FG% has definitely been the 4th best player on the Lakers the past week. All people want to know at the end of the day and end of the race is who “WON”. Nobody remembers 2nd place and i would rather all 3 of our big 3 have the worst games of there lives as long as the W still comes. Theres absolutely nothing to talk about when you lose including stats. You got to understand that basketball is not all about points and at the end of th day. Kobe still played pretty good defense on Ray Allen in game 7 and grabbed 15 rebounds which is way more impressive than points. The W is the only “statistic” that matters in sports…

The 3rd time was no excuses for us and they still beat us. Ray Allen is the key to Boston and is the only 1 that scares me on offense so hopefully my Heatles will think of a way to have Wade and Lebron switch on Allen once he starts all that running around. KG is the key to there defense and with Shaq next to him clogging the lane they wont miss Perkins 1 bit. If my Heat keep running offensive sets. They sent him to a good team so that they wont look like a shady organization. Smart move and Shaq is not going to dissappoint all those people in Boston and will be back.
