Unanswerable philosophical questions have plagued societies for ages. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Which came first: the chicken or the egg? Do you eat Ramen with a fork or spoon? Worry not. I have the answers. (Yes, the chicken and both.)
You’re right to wonder why I left out the fourth and most important question. And I apologize for the delay, but the Gods demand more than a simple answer. So let’s take the first step together and pose the eternally frustrating, polarizing and thought-provoking question:
Should NBA teams rest their starters when their playoff position is set in stone?Read More »
As you already know, Carmelo Anthony has teamed up with Boost Mobile in their latest “Be Heard” campaign. But what you probably didn’t know, is that they commissioned Spike Lee to direct an online miniseries to accompany it. Check out the commercial spot below with the voice-over written and read by legendary spoken word artist Lemon Andersen, and then watch “A Dream Come True,” “Back to the Hook” and “Wassup Baby” after the jump.
The Magic got a huge win last night over Atlanta as Dwight Howard had another monster game. Individual brilliance is becoming expected from him. But we couldn’t believe he found a way to extend and get to this floater.
For all the upset goodness that this past weekend’s first round left us with, Tuesday night went exactly as planned with each of the higher seeds claiming Ws. The Magic took care of the Hawks 88-82, Boston closed out New York 96-93 and the Mavs were able pull away from Rip City in the fourth, 101-89. But what Tuesday lacked in underdog victory, it sure as hell made up for in dramatic endings. And in New York’s case, even with Carmelo Anthony going off the reservation for 42 points, 17 rebounds and six assists, and with a new song in their iPod, everything came down to their other late-season acquisition, Jared Jeffries. After sharing with you guys what I received in the mail yesterday, I wanted to fill you in with some more information that I’ve been able to obtain about Carmelo Anthony‘s latest shoe, the Jordan Melo M7 Advance. Jordan Brand sent out only 21 packs (a multiple of 7, Melo’s jersey number) to Carmelo’s family as well as New York influencers and media to tell the deeper story and create some buzz during the playoffs. “Turn up the lights in here baby, extra bright I want y’all to see this…”
Sure, maybe when DeAndre Jordan tweeted this line in early December he meant nothing by it; it was probably just an online fist bump to Kanye’s joint, “All Of The Lights.” But since the 22-year-old and former 2008 second-round pick slid into the starting frontcourt for the Los Angeles Clippers nine games into the season, he’s never shined brighter. After making it back to the playoffs, it’s safe to say that Knicks fans and the entire organization have been pretty psyched. So with Game 3 against the Celtics coming up this Friday, the Knicks have collaborated with New York native Swizz Beatz to update the team’s classic theme song, “GO NY GO”. First commissioned in 1994, the iconic song has had many revisions over the years, but this most recent remix with Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks City Dancers goes hard.
Walking into SIR Stage37 for the Reebok RealFlex launch event in midtown Manhattan, I didn’t really know what stood before me. I knew they would have us take part in some sort of stunt course with a couple celebrity appearances, but that was pretty much it. In the complex, I was privied to a spectacle straight out of a Bruce Willis action movie. Atop the stairs to my right a fight broke out. There were punches thrown and bodies shoved. From there, the action moved to the main floor with one participant sliding down a rail and another leapfrogging over the second-story banister. As the chase continued, the setting went from an outdoor backdrop with trees, boulders and logs to juke through and hurdle over, to a street background with an actual Taxi whose hood you had to shimmy across – a la Shaft. Maybe the Raptors have finally smartened up. After a year where Toronto was basically forced to play leading scorer Andrea Bargnani in the middle for the majority of the season, the Toronto Sun is reporting that Raptors president/general manager Bryan Colangelo is making it his number-one priority to find a rugged center to stick next to Bargnani: Read More »
