Beast of the Night:Channing Frye posted 33 points, four boards, one assist and made nine three-pointers. He shot 67 percent (12-18) from the floor and had no turnovers. While his production in April has been pretty poor, Frye has had a pretty successful season, as he’s managed to average top-50 numbers. With his combination of threes, blocks and solid free-throw shooting, he should maintain solid value next season. Read More »
And then there were two…days of the regular season left after Monday night. We had known for a few days that the Pacers were set up to be sacrificial lambs for the Bulls in the first round of the NBA playoffs, and that Orlando and Atlanta would begin where they left off last spring. But the real meat – who the Knicks would play and who would have the home-court advantage should Boston and Miami advance – wasn’t decided until Miami survived the Hawks’ second-stringers and the Celtics couldn’t survive Washington’s third-stringers … Read More »
When the NBA Development League was first constructed 10 years ago, there were questions about just how beneficial it could be. Some weren’t sure it would really work and rightfully so. Basketball isn’t baseball, where there are enough spots and specific skill sets to warrant all of the minor league opportunities. Many figured the D-League would turn into a run-down, NIT version of the NBA, where teams might rarely make call-ups and only in the event of an injury. It’s safe to say that the league has exceeded expectations. Read More »
This past weekend in Los Angeles, Lakers forward Ron Artest, along with a line of fans wrapped around the block, made it out to sneaker haven Sportie LA to promote footwear from his new kicks establishment, BALL’N. Along with Artest, BALL’N founder Rodney Jeter was also in attendance to greet and talk shop with everyone that made it out to the West Hollywood store. So far, Artest remains the company’s lone NBA endorser and main marketing focus, which is awesome. This may be Ron Ron’s eighth shoe brand since he’s been catching burn in the L, but both Jeter and Artest claim it’s his last. Luckily, we caught up with both shareholders of the shoe brand (Artest took stake in BALL’N when he signed on) at the free fan-signing event.
You might’ve heard, but earlier this year Ray Allen passed over Reggie Miller to become the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history. It was an odd moment. We’ve all grown up on NBA Films, NBA Entertainment and the truth or myth (depending on who you ask) that Miller was the greatest shooter in NBA history.
Then something else happened, something else even more awkward. Earlier this year, Miller wasn’t voted as a finalist for this year’s Hall of Fame class. Very odd.
Was the myth of Reggie Miller greater than the player? Some might say yes. We don’t necessarily agree. But we think one thing we can all agree on is that Ray Allen is on that elite level. To determine which shooter was the better player, well that is an entirely different argument all to itself.
We argue. You decide.Read More »

It’s not a typical occurrence to we hear the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics in the same sentence. You couldn’t get two teams that are more different. One plays a slow, grind-it-out tempo with an emphasis on defense and the other likes to run and score over 100 points in every game they play. The owner of the Warriors, however, wants to take a similar approach to the one that the Celtics took in putting together a championship team in 2008. Read More »
The bottom half of the Western bracket looks pretty scary, and no team from that group is playing better right now than the Grizzlies. Last night, they destroyed New Orleans, and held Chris Paul without a point for the first time in his career.
