Is there anyone more inclined to speak on the rise of the Bulldog other than a guy who used to be one? Gordon Hayward helped build Butler, or at least the part of the school that we know something about. And while he was in the middle of that process last year, this year, he’s been at the center of a crushed foundation. No more Deron Williams and no more Jerry Sloan in Utah. But don’t fret too much Jazz fans. Hayward is getting better, and plans to be a lot better next season.
Here, Hayward dishes on a number of things, not just his former college team’s chances this weekend in the Final Four. He talks video games, his favorite sandwiches, the best vacation spots and even why he loves cruises so much. Read More »

On July 26, 2005, Ronny Turiaf underwent a successful six-hour open-heart surgery at Stanford Medical Center. Four years later, inspired by his experience, he started the Heart to Heart Foundation to spread heart health awareness and education to underprivileged children and families. Teaming up with former Gonzaga classmate Annie Hawkins (who played soccer for the University), the two are now working together to spread the word with a special t-shirt collection. Read More »

“He’s wasted his talent.” “He’s soft.” “He doesn’t care.” Vince Carter has heard nearly every insult you could ever throw at a player. But none of that takes away from this: He is the greatest dunker this game has ever seen.

Evidently, Carmelo Anthony wants to “be heard.” In his first endorsement since arriving in New York, ‘Melo is teaming up with Boost Mobile in a new city-wide marketing campaign. The pièce de résistance of this partnership is a 128-foot tall billboard near Madison Square Garden. Dime had a chance to get up with ‘Melo and take part in the festivities at 33rd and 9th, on of all things, a double-decker bus.

Beast of the Night: Paul Pierce finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, one block and a three-pointer last night against the Spurs. He shot 50 percent (8-16) from the field, 80 percent (4-5) from the charity stripe and had two turnovers. Pierce has exceeded expectations by averaging top-20 numbers throughout the season. He’s a candidate to see some rest at the end of the season, so his owners should keep a watchful eye on that. Read More »
The smallest player on the floor, representing the smallest school in the competition, Illinois College’s Jacob Tucker made the biggest splash in the Denny’s College Slam Dunk Contest last night. Watch all of his exploits below and be amazed.

MTV’s Extreme Makeover needs to get at the Lakers. From Ugly Betty to Brooklyn Decker, no one can figure out how they do it. All year long, they have that just-got-out-of-bed sluggishness. Then spring comes around with all that fresh air and nice weather and all of a sudden, they look completely different and they are out there dunking on people, staring people down and tossing opposing coaches aside. Dallas invaded L.A. last night. They were left with a reminder: the champ is here … Read More »
