So what are you doing at 9 p.m. EST tonight? Unless you’re watching Team Christina Aguilera on “The Voice,” you’ll be tuned in to Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks. But how is this series going to play out? So last but not least, some members of the Dime Crew wanted to weigh in our personal picks for the series: Read More »
With all respect to Mike Bibby and Brian Cardinal, the Rock and Usher, they will determine very little in the 2011 NBA Finals.

A few years ago, I visited the ruins of a Turkish bathhouse outside Istanbul. The tour guide informed our group that the bathhouse managed to survive the fall of Constantinople in 1453 and various other wars throughout history. As much as I hate tours and sightseeing, I would be lying if I told you that I was not impressed. Despite everything the world had thrown at this stone structure, it still stood strong. Read More »
Like a lot of kids who grew up in the ’80s, I was an avid baseball card collector. It started with my Dad, who would tell me stories of his own baseball card collection, long since lost. He would shake his head sadly, as if these lost treasures were why we lived in a three-bedroom house and not a sprawling mansion. Inspired, I spent every quarter I could find on packs of Topps cards, intent on recapturing the dream. I would rifle through the cards for hours, inspecting the little brown cardboard rectangles and sorting them into stacks. At some point all of us from that era put our Bo Jackson and Dwight Gooden cards in a special container, so that our Moms wouldn’t throw them out. And then we lost our Bos and Dwights. Read More »
Amazingly, without Dwight Howard so much as giving us a hint, a peep one way or another, the basketball hierarchy had come to the conclusion: the NBA’s best big man was gone. Out. Although the NBA Finals begin tonight, the other 28 teams will be focused elsewhere, trying to figure out who to select in this June’s draft. With that, check out the likes of Derrick Williams, Kemba Walker and Jimmer Fredette going through rigorous workouts and reflect on their experience.
Every once in a while, we like the pass the mic to our loyal DimeMag.com readers to let them elaborate on topics that are on their mind. So with LeBron James returning to the NBA Finals tonight, this got one reader in particular riled up. Currently the head coach of the Vegas Valley All Stars and coaching AAU ball for 24/7 Hoops out in Las Vegas, the man you know as Drink the Haterade, decided to shed some light on how we got to this point.Read More »
How important is winning? Do rings really mean that much? It’s a never-ending argument. The fact is, this is why we have the NBA, this is what it’s all about. The NBA Finals. The chance for someone to make history.
Two players so different, yet so much about them is the same. Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James. Two of the game’s greatest players still have so much to gain, and yet so much to lose. Legacies are on the line. Both are fighting to avoid the same basketball purgatory. Read More »
Ever since the adidas adiZero Crazy Light was unveiled, people have been asking the same question: Is it really the lightest basketball shoe ever? As good scientists, the folks at adidas conducted several trials to test this assertion, and what you see below is what’s left of The Other Guys’ shoe (the Jordan Fly Wade) to match 9.8 ounces. This time, they traded in the samurai sword, chainsaw and grizzly bear for a medieval axe.
