Cedric Maxwell: If Shaq Were A Horse, He’d Be Glue

If you’re in need of a brief NBA history lesson, Cedric Maxwell played eight seasons and won two championships with the Celtics – including MVP of the 1981 NBA Finals. Currently a radio analyst for WEEI in Boston, Maxwell – who played until he was 32 – had some strong words to say about the return of 39-year-old Shaquille O’Neal in Game 3.

Yes, Shaq only played eight minutes for the C’s on Saturday, finishing with just two points, one assist, one steal and two fouls, but his presence in TD Garden didn’t show up in the box score of Boston’s 97-81 victory over Miami. Did Shaq look like he was struggling out there? Yes. Was Maxwell apt to make a Kentucky Derby comparison? Maybe. But I know that if the Celtics are going to win this series, they’re going to need The Big Shamrock to bring them some luck before they put him down.

What do you think? Does Shaq do anything for the Celtics at this point?

Oh haha, Dime, you need to fix the title.

At first I thought you meant that Shaq is so old that if he’s a horse, he’s only useful for making horse hoof glue.

Shaq’s rotations on D now consists of him turning in the direction of his assignment as opposed to actually moving in that direction

Shaq is stealing money from the celtics and the league.

    Dear Shaq:

Shaq, we love you big homey, but dammit hang em up.
you went from the youngest star in the league to now the oldest hasbeen (ever) in the same generation.

    retire gracefully. bow out now.
you aint look right in phoenix, cleveland nor boston.

20yrs and 4 chips. 3 different $100million contracts. countless nights with superhead. endless nights with Hoopz. you almost killed brad miller with a single swing in chitown. you were slammed by old man barkley in h-town. you killed david robinsons pride with that allstar game dunk in san antonio. you balled with penny, kobe, d wade, steve nash, lebron, garnett-allen-pierce. nobody even remembers you used to get swept every year in orlando and LA. or them cheesy pepsi/taco bell commercials.

nah, you good son. no need to hang on for another run.
retire now and end it. we beg you….

it’s kinda sad to watch, as an 80′s baby, all these guys breaking down like shaq, AI, KG, etc. These were dudes I followed since their college days. Makes me feel old.
