After leading Washington to back-to-back conference titles in the Pac-10 Tournament over the last two seasons, junior Isaiah Thomas (who also claimed back-to-back conference MOP honors in those same title runs) decided the time was right to test his talents on another level: the NBA. During his time in Seattle, the 5-9 guard was nothing short of an offensive force. After averaging 16.9 points and 3.9 assists a game as a sophomore, he returned this season to drop 16.8 and 6.1 per and navigate UW to a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Tournament. And as the kid embarks on his journey away from college and into the pros, we wanted to give him his own space, and voice, to roam.Read More »
Besides the inconsistency from some of their All-Stars, one of the more mysterious storylines from the Celtics’ playoff failure this spring was the disappearance of Glen Davis.
After having the best regular season of his career, Big Baby just wasn’t around during the playoffs. In nine games against the Knicks and the Heat, he scored more than six points only once, and snatched a dozen rebounds in the entire semifinal series against Miami. Read More »
I’ve watched a few episodes of Top Gear, here and there. I can’t say I know cars all too well, but I do appreciate a motor vehicle for its character, whether it be an SUV, sports car or minivan. And like NBA players’ style of play or skill sets, a car can say a lot about their owners.
Are they rugged, speedy, stylish? Are they reliable or will they leave you hanging in the most critical of moments? For example, I’d say Shaquille O’Neal‘s game fits with his semi-truck, pickup hybrid pretty well. So with the NBA Draft upcoming, which players’ games resemble what types automobiles? Read More »
If you have ever been in New York for the summer, then you know that the place to be seen on weekends is the Hamptons. So when AXE invited Dime to come hang with them and projected top-10 pick Kemba Walker at AXE Lounge in Southampton, we jumped at the chance. Watch Kemba talk about sneakers, music, his all-time favorite UConn players and more.
As the final seconds ticked off the clock during Michigan’s third-round NCAA Tournament loss to Duke, Darius Morris took a shot that he’s made countless times before. He had made it earlier in the game. It was a shot that, according to him, he normally always makes.
“I got a good look and the shot went out,” says Morris of his last shot attempt in a Michigan uniform. “Everybody thought the shot was falling in, especially me. And when it didn’t, it just was a crazy feeling.”
It was a feeling that left Morris in a tricky position. The star point guard had a decision to make: stay at school, or leave early for the NBA? He ultimately chose to pursue his lifelong dream. Read More »
Atlanta always seems like they’re running in circles. That’s what happens when you get capped out and max out as a second round team. After spending last summer trying to convince everyone they were going all in to take the next step toward actual contender status, it looks like they’re going in the opposite direction.
The Hawks are beginning to get a feel for trade interest around the league in forward Josh Smith. Money, and a divorce after seven up-and-down years are the reasons. Read More »
This is kind of crazy. While it’s gotta be tough having paparazzi pester you all the time, there’s surely nothing worse for Greg Oden than being mistaken for LeBron James. But perhaps the craziest part about this video is the answer G.O. gives when asked if he’s a ballplayer.
Picks 11-20 of the NBA Draft are tainted. Damaged goods. George’s fabled red dot-ruined cashmere sweater. There’s just something wrong, something incomplete. That’s why they fall out of the top 10. Last week I covered the sacred teachings of “Seinfeld” as they relate to picks 1-10 of the Dime Mock Draft 3.0. Luckily, the knowledge of NBC’s greatest comedic creation is never ending. So let’s dive in and see what the Jewish prophets can teach us about picks 11-20. Read More »
