Although the team she normally covers, the New York Knicks, took an early exit in the playoffs, Tina Cervasio remains engaged in following all things basketball. A sports junkie growing up in New Jersey, Cervasio came from a family who passionately followed and played the sport, and she parlayed that interest into a career as one of the New York area’s most diverse sportscasters today. In addition to her sideline reporting and feature work for the Knicks on MSG Network, Tina covers the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer and works morning and weekends for FOX TV. She also fills her days mentoring young people and assisting in charity work, as well as keeping up to date with what’s going on in the NBA and college hoops, especially at her alma mater the University of Maryland. It isn’t surprising at all that nearly all of the Heat inclusions in this video are dunks and highlight-type plays while for Dallas, it’s almost entirely Dirk hitting game-winners or game-clinching buckets.
The best part about this story? Peoria isn’t even in Ohio. Nope, they are making fun of LeBron all over the USA. Soon, someone will probably make a song about it. Maybe we’ll get an annual LeBron “Choke” day. Perhaps a minor league team will give out fake NBA championship rings to fans… Read More »
Glance back at your childhood and your sprouting love for the game of basketball. Remember how you were too innocent, too inexperienced in anything to know why anything was good or evil, beautiful or ugly. Remember as a 4-year-old how this ill comprehension made you choose your favorite player, Kevin Johnson, for the simple fact that you shared a first name. That’s me. Read More »
I’ve never been one for wearing gear on the court. I’m not a good enough basketball player. The NBA is a different story. If you’re a rotation player, you’ve secured an inalienable right to wear whatever you want. But unless it’s a brace, there’s really no point other than style. Take headbands, for instance. LeBron James wears one. So does Jason Terry – and his is slightly off center (someone should really tell him). Neither of them have enough hair to warrant their apparel, but they definitely have enough swag (at least LeBron used to). Read More »
Jeremy Tyler was a trailblazer of sorts, leaving high school after his junior year to play professional basketball in Israel for Maccabi Haifa before leaving the team in the middle of the season to return to the states. Nobody had tried the international route at such a young age before, and some called it a failure. But Tyler says it was a growing experience that has positively shaped his path to the 2011 NBA Draft, where he’s inching up the boards as a potential mid-20s pick. Read More »
The story of Len Bias is never anything but sad. The former number-two overall pick in the 1986 Draft was supposed to revitalize the Boston Celtics at the tail end of Larry Bird and Kevin McHale‘s careers. But it never happened after his cocaine use immediately following the draft caused Bias to pass away due to heart failure. Read More »
I guess one of the things casual basketball fans like about the Thunder is that they are pretty much ink-less. The anti-Nuggets. While it seems like a weird reason to both love them and consider them non-threatening, they just bumped up their tattoo total considerably yesterday. Read More »
Remember Tracy Morgan‘s recent anti-gay tirade/joke where he basically said, “I will kill my own child if he’s gay?” After the public got wind of it, he had to come back and apologize, then his bosses bashed him so Morgan said sorry again and then others started going after him so he had to talk about his childhood and apologize again. That’s LeBron right now. Read More »
I’m sure you’ve heard by now: in the aftermath of Dallas’ Game 6 win, LeBron James took a swing at all of the haters. During the postgame press conference, he basically came out and said he doesn’t care about the hate, doesn’t listen to it, because at the end of the day, his life is better than anyone else’s. All of the haters, he said, go home to the same problems they had the day before. Read More »
