As quickly as it opened, the Dallas Mavericks’ championship window is closing. With the Big German turning 33 this Sunday, Jason Terry nearing 34, and Jason Kidd closing in on 40, Mark Cuban is starting to look like the supervisor of a retirement home. Meanwhile, the rest of the NBA’s championship contenders are on the up and up. The Oklahoma City Thunder’s core of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Serge Ibaka is entering its prime. Led by 22-year-old point guard Derrick Rose, the Bulls should be primed for another championship run. Read More »
Earlier this spring, I caught up with former NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning. And while our meeting wasn’t necessarily to talk NBA Playoffs/LeBron/Scottie Pippen/MJ, we sort of got around to comparing eras. Read More »
There’s not much to the Miami Heat roster. While they have a lot of movement going on, Pat Riley and company don’t have the flexibility to be too picky in the free agent market. With three sure-fire pieces on the roster in LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, add in some nice role players like Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem and Joel Anthony, and you’ve got some continuity going into next season. After that, however, things are pretty open. Read More »
If defense is what you need, then Chris Singleton is your guy. The 6-9 forward with a freakish 7-1 wingspan wowed NBA scouts during his time at Florida State with his ability to play lockdown perimeter defense. Considered the best overall stopper in the country, Singleton led the Seminoles in 2011 to an 8-3 start in ACC play, including a gutsy 66-61 win over then-No. 1 Duke. But in mid-February, Singleton fractured his right foot, which forced him to watch from the bench as FSU limped to a 3-3 finish heading into the NCAA tournament. Read More »

For the first time since perhaps 1999, just after the second retirement of Michael Jordan, we will probably enter next season (whenever that is) without a clear cut best player.
Normally, it comes down to two or three guys. Now? There are perhaps 10 players that can make the claim. A few weeks ago, I was convinced LeBron was the best player in the world (I think everybody was) and had been for perhaps the last two years. But he failed so miserably and shrunk so considerably in the NBA Finals that I find it hard to say that now. Read More »
You knew the world was going to try and dethrone King James after the Mavs came out victorious, so it’s fitting that someone went back to where it all began – “The Decision” – to have a little fun. Check out this hilarious mashup titled, “The New Decision.” (Warning: There is some NSFW language.)
Those of us who can remember the early ‘90s know how on-top-of-the-world Mariah Carey used to be. The Music Box version of Mariah was young, beautiful and supremely talented. Then somewhere along the way Tommy Mottola, Glitter, “MTV Cribs” and Nick Cannon happened. A more recent example of a fallen diva is, of course, Christina Aguilera, whose career arc can be summarized as “Genie in a Bottle,” “Dirrty,” Burlesque and “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Today, Mariah and Christina are replaced by the likes of Adele, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Ke$ha.
