What’s up y’all? I believe K Dizzle and JAY have been asking the question for a while now: what happens to next year’s lottery if the entire season is cancelled? Forgetting that it’s a LONG way off, it’s still an interesting argument. Who gets the No. 1 pick? Do they re-run this year’s order? Do they redo this year’s lottery odds? Do they do something completely random and probably inexcusable? Read More »
It’s almost here. But I don’t think anyone thought about this. When the the current collective bargaining agreement expires at midnight, you won’t be able to go to NBA.com and watch Blake Griffin dunk highlights from his rookie season, or read analysis from last week’s NBA Draft. While the revolution might be televised, it’s going to feature a whole lot of David Stern, Mike Brown and Sekou Smith, and none of Kobe, LeBron or D-Wade.Read More »
With the impending lockout upon us, basketball fans worldwide need something positive to look forward to. Rest assured, I’m here to deliver it. So regardless of when the NBA season starts next here, college basketball will be flooded with a freshman class of high flyers, headlined by Deuce Bello en route to Waco to play for the Baylor Bears. Enjoy!
We don’t really want to use the word. Let’s just leave it at this: the NBA is on its way to a thing – a thing that only happens when the Collective Bargaining Agreement expires. This thing rhymes with “flock route” which also might have something to do with birds flying south for the winter. This thing could last ’til the winter. And even though the two sides involved in preventing this thing are meeting today for the last time before the CBA expires, this thing is still probably going to happen. Read More »
Damn. Joe Johnson is 30 years old. And the Hawks STILL owe him over $107 million…not to mention a lockout that is going to restrict Atlanta’s flexibility even more. Let’s take it back to before there was talk about contracts, $124 mill, lockouts and Stern. As a guy who used to thoroughly dislike the Celtics, I applaud you Joe…Happy BDay!
If the lockout goes down as expected, the Portland Trail Blazers will enter the summer having answered one of their biggest personnel questions and practically set its starting lineup in June.
Point guard Raymond Felton joins from Denver in a draft-day switch with Andre Miller. Unlike Miller, Felton doesn’t need the ball in his hands on every possession to be effective as a scorer and is an equal at distribution. And on the day he was introduced by interim GM Chad Buchanan along with draft picks Nolan Smith (No. 21) and Jon Diebler (No. 51) on Monday, Felton put the ball in the Blazers’ court about making him a franchise point guard. As if you’d expect them too. Nah, when you have a 21-year-old (legit) point guard who can pass, shoot (sometimes) and is athletic, you hold onto him. Maybe he never pans out the way you really wanted him to, but you take that chance…especially with the way the game is being played now (no hand-checking, up-and-down, less Mateen Cleaves). After last week’s NBA Draft, you are probably left wanting more, right? Well, with the NBA Summer League cancelled and the lockout looming, the next best thing we can analyze is the 2012 NBA Draft. With that, here is a list of the top 15 prospects that will hear their names called by David Stern next year. Read More »
Until I was in about the sixth grade, I had a room in our attic that was set apart for just LEGOs. I can’t count how many box sets I had, but it was enough to build my own little kingdom. I used to spray paint some of the horses (gold was for the King, red was for the Hand of the King…) and I had my kingdom’s own little court, full of one king, and some nights (now you probably realize why I like Game Of Thrones so much).
