The Blazers have a number of big decisions this summer: what to do with Andre Miller and his non-guaranteed contract…Greg Oden…Brandon Roy and the whole “retirement” thing…what to do about a new GM. Right now, they own the 21st pick in this month’s draft, and might be looking to make a move.
The Portland Tribune says the Blazers are interested in trading up to get a shot at landing UConn’s star guard Kemba Walker. Read More »
What he said. Although I can’t decide if Miami lost or Dallas won. Most likely it was some indeterminate combination of the two. But no matter how you look at it, it was fun watching Erik Spoelstra quietly s*** his pants as Miami decided to go November 2010 on us. Anyway, here are the winners and losers of Game 2. Read More »
Honestly, a Twitter recap for Game 2 of the NBA Finals could be a list of different ways to say “holy sh**,” but of course, the first 41 minutes of the game matter, too. If you turned the TV off with Dallas down by 15 and seven minutes left, you probably missed something important, say, a 22-5 run to give the Mavericks a historic 95-93 victory against the Miami Heat.
To get it out of the way, the postgame Twitter trends included “LeBum,” “Series Tied” and “Tinky Winky,” though it’s unclear whether the latter was an adjective referring to Chris Bosh‘s defense on Dirk Nowitzki or something completely unrelated. Read More »
Great timing. This postseason has been something of a reincarnation for Dirk Nowitzki, and last night he did his best to rip up the biggest stereotypes the basketball world has used again him in his career: shrinking in big moments and not being tough. Dallas’ comeback wasn’t possible without Dirk’s lefty layup on a torn tendon with three seconds left.
Still, let’s not forget what LeBron did this season, starting summer for two championship-caliber teams in Boston and Chicago while his teammate Dwyane Wade might be the best one-on-one player in the league. Read More »
Although LeBron James has averaged 18.5 shots per game in the postseason, it appears he doesn’t always have to be the one with the ball in his hands to score. Here, he shows Miami that he is also a fan of recycling.
OMG. LOL. WTF. LMAO. Seriously, what did we watch? How did that happen? One minute Miami was introducing the first ever NBA Finals Dunk Contest, and the next the Mavs were canning Js all over the place, erasing a 15-point lead in the final seven minutes and grabbing the win they absolutely had to have, 95-93, after Dirk hit a layup with just three seconds left. Was this the swing game? It’s too early to say. But one thing it did do was turn this jaunt from a coronation to a series. Read More »
The time has finally come for LeBron, Wade and Bosh to prove themselves. Now, it’s either put up, or shut up and frankly, they only have one option. So far, Wade and LeBron have shown that they refuse to accept failure. However Dirk and the Mavs are on their last legs, and the time is now for them as well. This series is ultimately going to come down to who wants it more. Miami was able to defend home court in Game 1. Now, they’re going into Game 2 hoping to do the same. Read More »
I never understood the 2-3-2 format of the NBA Finals. If the visiting team steals one of the first two games on the road, their fortunes are reversed. Not only have they stolen home-court advantage, they get to return home for three straight games and kick the opponent while they’re down. Not cool, David Stern. The Mavs will be ready to seize this gift of an opportunity. Especially after their horrid offensive performance in Game 1, which included an 0-for-3 night from the corpse of Peja Stojakovic and a 1-for-8 outing from the underrated turned overrated J.J. Barea. Despite stumbling out of the gates, the Mavs will look to bounce back in Game 2. Here are the three keys to victory for tonight’s game: Read More »
Now that the NBA Finals have kicked off, we can finally start milking the matchup for its several intriguing plotlines. The fact that these two teams met in the ’06 Finals seems to be one of the most popular subplots. However, what people are overlooking is the beef between LeBron James and DeShawn Stevenson. Looking back on previous playoff series, these two have quite the relationship. Read More »
Now that Ricky Rubio’s European career has most likely come to an end, it’s time to look at his NBA potential. Other international talents have stirred similar controversy when their overseas careers ended and the NBA horizon loomed. Take a look as we debate the potential of the No. 5 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Read More »
