Trying to create a buzz, 2K Sports took to Twitter with this the other day: “Want to see NBA cover? When 100K different people tweet #NBA2K12, the NBA 2K12 Cover will be revealed.” And while the most common guesses were Derrick Rose, Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin and the Big Three, it turns out it’s none of the above. That’s right, 2K Sports has just announced that NBA 2K12 will offer not one, not two, but three separate covers for the game featuring legends Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Yesterday, one door officially closed while another one opened. Yao Ming is finished, his playing days are over. Yesterday, we heard from the big man’s mouth that he is retiring. Yao will return to do some work for the team he once played for, the Shanghai Sharks, and as David Stern hopes, will probably still have some involvement with the NBA. The former Rocket thanked many former teammates and opponents, including Shaquille O’Neal, Chuck Hayes, Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowry and Luis Scola for helping him along the way, and thanked the entire city of Houston for turning a skinny, young kid into a man. No argument about the best NBA teams of all-time can take place without including the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. They won a record 72 games during the regular season, then blitzed through the playoffs with a 15-3 record (only losing once to the Knicks in overtime, before dropping two straight to Seattle after the championship had been all but clinched). And while people like myself and Celts Fan will take some mid-’80s teams ahead of the Unstop-a-Bulls, the most successful team in history has to be mentioned. Read More »

After recently signing Kemba Walker to team with Brandon Jennings to hopefully create an all-league backcourt, Under Armour took another bold step today in building their basketball lineup. They announced they’ve signed Minnesota’s Derrick Williams to add another future star to their brand.
I caught up with Williams to talk about his new deal with Under Armour and what the future holds for that partnership, but also to get his opinion of his new Minnesota teammates – he thinks they’re ready to make a big jump – and also the five players he most wants to play against. Read More »

Hot Rod has played basketball practically his whole life. But for him, the game is secondary to music, as the 50 Cent-signed artist has his new album set for release this fall. With his single “Dance With Me” going viral, I had the chance to speak with Hot Rod on the latest in basketball and his music. Read More »
Lance Allred might be known more for being the first legally deaf player to ever play in the NBA. But he’s also forged a basketball journey from Croatia to Puerto Rico to Australia to China to Cleveland and everywhere in between. Put it this way, he’s played in every continent outside of Antarctica, which I would guess has approximately zero basketball leagues. So Allred knows, much as Josh Childress does, what NBA players will be facing should they sign in a different league. Read More »
