It appears the NBA lockout has sparked interest in all sorts of American basketball players overseas. Why break the bank on a guy like Kobe or Durant, when you can sign a former NCAA champion like Duke alumnus Cherokee Parks. Well, according to the French basketball weekly BasketNews, that’s exactly what French basketball club Aubenas Ardèche was thinking when they signed the 12th overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft.

In case you forgot, Parks retired from the NBA in 2004 after 472 games and nine seasons with stints in Dallas, Minnesota, Vancouver, Washington, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Golden State. According to Basketball-Reference.com, he made a little over $11 million for his career. But at 38 years old, it’s reported that Parks is excited about his new adventure and returned to the gym to get in shape. The question is, will the Fun Police follow in his footsteps? Time will only tell.

Here’s his one highlight from YouTube:

What do you think?

It saddens me terribly that I was not given an option to write this article. Can we at least get a tatted up pic of Cherry (see what I did there), preferably one where he rocks the black nail polish?

True story: Parkour was invented by Cherokee (and given his namesake). It happened in 1992 at 3am in the Duke dorms when Thomas Hill wouldn’t stop crying and C-Parks beerbonged a Crystal Clear Pepsi, went outside and scaled the Cameron fieldhouse using nothing but his unquenchable radness and Laettner’s blowdryer.

To be honest, Parks has been signed by a team which plays in “Nationale 2″, i.e. the fourth level in France and an amateur championship.

I guess the guy just got a little bored in his French villa on the Cote d’Azur and needed some exercice. He will hardly make any money. I’ve read he will also train some young teams which sounds great for those kids !

I would love to have Cherokee Parks all up in this Tanner ass!
