Happy Birthday Rudy Gay!

Rudy Gay

At 25 years old, your college glory days are normally behind you. Usually – in this economy, the more appropriate world might be “hopefully” – you have a job that cuts into your video game time, cuts down on your trips out to the bar or time spent both in the mall and kickin’ it with your friends. At 25, unless you’re more than a weekend warrior, even your body starts the slow deterioration that will make you look in the mirror 20 years from now and say, “WTF happened?” Read More »

We Reminisce: Hakeem Olajuwon’s Lost Finals

Hakeem Olajuwon

An essential element in the cult of Michael Jordan is the fact that the man never lost an NBA Finals. It’s how we choose to remember him: Perfect. 6-0 in the endgame. Unassailable. In doing so, we place him in the tiniest of circles, that being multiple champions who never lost a title. Read More »

DimeBag: The Weekly Dime Mailbag

DimeBag

My mind wanders – flutters, even. Nothing is too insignificant or marginal to warrant a moment’s pondering. It’s not an inability to focus, but more a constantly careful analysis of the minutiae of every day life. Who’s on the other end of my Xbox Live game? Did Dexter actually inspire someone to become a vigilante that uses a kill room and creepy pictures? Who wins a fight between Kendrick Perkins and Ron Artest? Does anyone actually watch SNL anymore? How did humanity discover fire? That seems like a pretty tough thing to do. What’s the cutoff age for “you’re too old to be single and enjoying the NBA party life?” Why is it socially frowned upon to bite into tomatoes whole? On a scale of 1-10, how obnoxious was it for Google to create Google+ and try to ruin Facebook?

There’s a quick glimpse into the endless abyss that is my tortured curiosity. I’m sure many of you have wondered similar things. That’s why I’m proud to present you with DimeBag, the weekly Dime mailbag. Read More »

Rysheed Jordan Headlines The 2011 All-Chosen League Teams

The Chosen League

As you know, this summer Dime sponsored a team in The Chosen League. While we finished the regular season with an undefeated 5-0 record, we lost last night, 64-61, in a Final Four matchup against Thaddeus Young‘s squad. So before they take on Jrue Holiday‘s team tonight in the championship game, we figured we’d announce the 2011 All-Chosen League Teams. Read More »

Best Summer League Game Ever

James Harden

“Capital Punishment.” That’s what they’re billing it as. The best of the best as far as summer league games go…and we’ve had some great ones, dating back to the 1960-1970s in Harlem at Rucker Park. Nowadays, Washington D.C.’s Goodman League and L.A.’s Drew League are considered the two premier summer leagues in the country, and probably the world. In case you haven’t been on this site, on any other basketball-related site, on YouTube or been out of the house in the last few months, this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET at D.C.’s Trinity University, the two leagues will face off for bragging rights. Shaquille O’Neal Goes Hollywood While Kobe Bryant Goes To Church

Shaquille O'Neal

A man is considering suing Kobe Bryant after he says 24 injured his wrist when the star snatched away his phone because he thought the man was taking pictures of Bryant at church. Bryant, with his warrior/Russell Crowe in Gladiator image, probably can’t afford to have pictures of him in church leak out. Imagine what that would do to his toughness cred? OMG, Kobe goes to church?! He’s not a machine. He’s not a ruthless killer who doesn’t have a life, and thinks about murdering his enemies every second of every single day. Read More »

How To Get Freaky With The Rock: The Art Of The Dribble

Jamal Crawford

Honestly, there are few things that feel better than dribbling a basketball. Very few…and those are all outside of basketball. It seems natural: Basketball in hand. The basketball pounding against the gym floor. The sneakers squeaking. On the court, it’s art. Dribble low. Dribble high. Fast. Quick. I know it sounds corny, but for me it’s true. I could be in the gym for hours, and do nothing but push the rock through drills. Read More »
