Couch Potatoes: 6 Flicks NBA Players Should Be Watching

Gilbert Arenas

NBA players are people too. Some might have fine tastes in fine cognacs while others go to clubs so nice that their bouncers wouldn’t let me in if Diddy told them to. But at the same time, they like the same songs that I like and watch the same movies that I do. Sometimes, said movies teach us important lessons, whether they are the generic, over-done type clichés or the deep, intellectual themes.

So these NBA guys must take a few of life’s lessons and view them as applicable to their game, right? Taking into account a few recent flicks, here’s what six popular movies could potentially teach some certain NBA stars. Read More »

A Rose That Grew From Concrete

Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose is going to win multiple championships. That’s straight from the MVP’s mouth. Doesn’t it really feel as if Rose won the MVP like five years ago? Between the lockout, Capital Punishment and Kevin Durant becoming the story of the summer, D-Rose became lost in the shuffle. He likes it like that though, and will probably remain mute until next season officially starts. But he did give us a taste of the competitiveness that has Chicago looking pretty good for the next decade, telling HoopsHype that he will win multiple titles, and has no doubts about it. Photos From The Official Capital Punishment Afterparty

Capital Punishment

You knew that after the best basketball game of the summer concluded, everyone involved would need a place to congregate and unwind. This past Saturday night, that place just happened to be D.C.’s Love Nightclub. Hosted by Big Tigger and DJ Tay James (Justin Bieber‘s official DJ), check out how Kevin Durant, James Harden, Ty Lawson, John Wall, and DeMar DeRozan got down at the official Capital Punishment afterparty. Oh yeah, and there’s a cameo by Andre Miller too. Read More »

Jimmer Fredette To Host Two NBA Rookie All-Star Games In Utah

Jimmer Fredette

Despite the NBA lockout, this summer has been awesome in terms of basketball. But one thing it’s been severely lacking is Jimmer Fredette. Thankfully that’s about to change. So after you pre-order his documentary, make sure you buy some tickets to “Jimmer’s All-Stars” to watch one of the country’s most prolific scorers get buckets. To be honest, I just might have to fly out. Read More »

Happy Birthday Andray Blatche!

Today, Andray Blatche is turning 25, and a birthday post for the Washington forward is one of the easiest ones we’ve ever had. You could put any type of video up on Blatche and it would be entertaining in some way. Here he is out dining with Yi Jianlian. They would have their own handshake.

The Ultimate NBA Volleyball Team

DeMar DeRozan

As I’ve said before, volleyball might be one of my favorites sports to watch. I’m dead serious. Some of these dudes can fly. They might not be as graceful as the best basketball players, but the process of jumping 40 inches in the air, and then smashing a ball down towards the faces of an opponent is pretty dope. And if you’ve never been to a women’s volleyball game, you seriously need to reevaluate your stance on life (instead of having stuff like lingerie basketball, why can’t we just have a solid professional women’s volleyball league with TV contracts and teams all across the country?). GoldenEye 007: Reloaded Preview

GoldenEye 007: Reloaded

Ever since Daniel Craig took over as James Bond, I’ve sort of drifted from the series. Of course when the newer Bond movies are on Spike or some other random channel, I’m reeled in – and there’s little I can do about it. There’s just something disarming. I fall for it all. The girls, the ridiculous escapes, the enemy’s atrocious aim.

Ultimately, though, nothing ever defined the Bond series as much as GoldenEye, the video game for Nintendo 64. It was my first ever first-person shooter, my first real video game memory. I remember it vividly. The sweet soundtrack, the chilling combination of fear and accomplishment. It is, quite possibly, the greatest first-person shooter ever. Read More »
