Kevin Durant Is The Next Jesus Shuttlesworth

Kevin Durant

A lot of NBA players have opportunities to win. But not everyone can say they starred in a movie. Kevin Durant should soon be able to say that. The Oklahoman is reporting KD is nearly set to star in a major Warner Bros. film that will begin production sometime next month. As you all know, there’s this thing called the lockout going on, and any other September would probably be out of the question for the NBA’s heir. But this year, he’s taking advantage of his time off. Read More »

Virginia’s Finest Survives Norfolk’s Red Bull King of the Rock to Advance to Alcatraz

KOTR VA - Action1

On Saturday morning, we were on hand in Norfolk, Virginia for the latest qualifier in the massive Red Bull King of the Rock tournament. We had already witnessed some serious talent in “major” cities like NYC, Philly, Boston, and Washington, D.C. (the winners of each market all have a legit shot at taking the whole thing on Alcatraz), so we didn’t know what to expect in Norfolk. What we found was that Virginia may have brought the most overall talent of any qualifier anywhere to the courts at Lafayette Park on Saturday morning. These guys were killers, battling to the very end in stifling heat and humidity, nobody going out without putting up a savage fight to the finish. Read More »

Morris Peterson Shows You His Offseason Workout

Despite what you may think, most NBA players don’t set sail for the Caribbean once the season ends; many decide to live in the gym. And after 11 years in the League, this is definitely the case for current free agent Morris Peterson. With that, check out Mo Pete’s workout at Miami Central High School this summer as he tries to make it back.

Behind The Scenes At The Best Basketball Game Of The Summer

Kevin Durant

Does a one-point win in a game marked with fouls, dunks, travels, blocks and everything in-between equal basketball supremacy for the winning team? It most certainly does.

After the Goodman League’s 135-134 win over the Drew League on Saturday night in Washington, D.C., the answer of the best summer league in the country was finally decided. Read More »

Can’t Break The Silence

LeBron James

You know what would be amazing? If the player’s union and the owners could meet more than once every month. That’s what it feels like, and it doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. Some were pushing to get a meeting together this week, preferably Friday, but alas it’s not going to happen. It’ll be September before they sit down at the negotiating table again. Meanwhile, we are all sitting back counting the days down until the normal start of the season. No matter what the situation is, we think they should figure out a way to meet at least once in a while. Is that too much to ask? When you’re studying for a test, a really big one, can you ace it if you’re only paying attention one day a week in class? Or if you only do homework when you feel like it? Unless you’re a genius, you might struggle. Read More »

The Big Punisher

Kevin Durant

What do they always say about an NBA playoff series? Never pick against the best player when things are pretty even. We guess that tip works well for playground ball as well. Kevin Durant was the star of stars last night at Trinity University in Washington D.C. for Capital Punishment, scoring 44 points, winning the MVP and hitting the game-winning free throws with 21.5 seconds left as Goodman beat the Drew League 135-134. Some of the Dime crew was in the house and while KD was THE man, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins killed as well for Goodman. On the other side, James Harden – who was going at KD all night long, the two of them taking advantage of being on opposites sides for once – and Brandon Jennings were the two best. Read More »

Ron Artest May Need To Cancel His Euro Trip

Ron Artest

Ron Artest might have to cancel that Euro trip he was planning. While he has agreed to play with the Cheshire Jets in the UK and appears really excited, issues with garnering the insurance needed for him to actually play there are causing problems. Team officials, while holding out hope it can get done, say they will have to work really hard in these next few days to make something happen. This better all come together. We were promised Ron on British soap operas. We can’t turn back now … Read More »

NBA Stars Put On A Show In The Drew League

And to think all of this footage came from one game. Kobe Bryant, James Harden, Derrick Williams and DeMar DeRozan do what they do best: put on a show.

NBA Store Gets Temporary NYC Home This Fall

NBA Store

As an NYC resident and basketball aficionado, the old NBA Store was a second home. The endless paraphernalia, retro gear, everything. I bought my favorite pair of Knicks’ shorts there. When the store shut down in February, I was disappointed. A part of my basketball experience was gone – taken, really. Well I’m glad to announce that, at least temporarily, it’s back. Read More »
