No NBA players will be hitting up Bank of America if they’re in need of loans during the lockout. Why, just go to Kobe Bryant. He’ll hand out loans. Seriously. Billy Hunter, president of the Players Association, told the Los Angeles Times that the Laker star is intimately involved in the talks and negotiations and that he’s (along with other unnamed players) prepared to offer loans to players who may need help during the lockout … Read More »
North Carolina has themselves another sick, 6-6 athlete. We’ve shown love to J.P. Tokoto before, but we can never get enough of him. He floats. Effortlessly. And in the fall of 2012, the small forward from Menomonee Falls High School in Wisconsin will become the latest in a long line of UNC swingmen that could basically kiss the rim.
If not for the lockout, the NBA would be in perfect shape right now. With tons of young superstars taking over the league, the future couldn’t be any brighter. Just take a look at last year’s MVP voting. Four out of the top six finishers were under 27 years old. With plenty of talent about to enter their prime, the competition in the NBA could be at its best since the Jordan Era.
Two of these young phenoms include Kevin Durant and LeBron James. Do they need any more introduction? Both of these guys have been dominating the NBA since their rookie season and look to continue to do so in the future. Read More »
Charles Barkley is always saying some wild things, but this right here had me on the floor. How can you say someone has the worst mustache ever, and say it all with a completely straight face (at the 1:30 mark)? Comedy. Recently, Barkley spoke on a number of things on the “Dan LeBatard is Highly Questionable” show, including calling Dwyane Wade a little “whiny” and telling LeBron to not take himself so seriously. And Sir Charles also recalls the time Kobe called him to curse him out for criticizing the Mamba. Hit the jump for the first part of the interview.
Myck Kabongo doesn’t have Yung Swag. He is Yung Swag. The freshman stepping into the helm at the point of the Texas’ attack this fall actually raps, and his stage name is Yung Swag. A cross between Drake and J. Cole? That’s how he describes himself. According to ESPN’s Jason Jordan, Kabongo messed around with the mic a lot as a kid but now has plans to actually get into the business, and plans to release an album when this season is over. The 1990s were highlighted by some of the best center play we have ever seen. Game dominators like Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O’Neal were consistently glued to the block in a game that was much more physical and reliant on the big man. Among some of the ’90s greatest heavyweights were Patrick Ewing and David Robinson. Very similar in style of play, these guys were warriors in every single sense of the word. But which center was the better of the two? By going off what my man Kristofer Habbas has done with the point guards, let’s have a verdict by looking at the statistics, best year, playoff success, and historical effect. Read More »
In the time spent researching these great players, some other players were seen and I want to make sure they are not overlooked. Some are champions of the record books and others are champions on the court. Either way, here are a few Golden Point Guard Nuggets of the past 60+ years. Read More »
“Is your son considered the No. 1 college prospect in these United States of America?”
He couldn’t read the man’s face. It was too dark for that, the moon blocked out by buildings. 3:31 a.m. A mild night, with a slight breeze hitting his back, and yet he felt nothing mild about this pitch. He wasn’t sure why this man had cornered him, didn’t know at all what he wanted and yet here they were talking. Read More »
The Charlotte Bobcats are next on our list of NBA teams to analyze from a fantasy basketball perspective. This renovated roster now lacks a captain but includes a new (yet fragile) gunner on offense. The mostly unappealing personnel and murky situation at the point means fantasy owners should approach this team with some apprehension. There might not be a lot to love in Charlotte, but there’s still fantasy value to be had. Let’s see where it might be. Read More »
John Wall has been all over the place lately, playing in Vegas, on the East Coast, in gyms and outside. This weekend in Washington, DC Wall was one of the biggest stars again in the “Clash Of The Superstars” Charity game. Even though there wasn’t much to see from his reportedly improved jump shot, we got the necessary diet of dunks and blocks.
