The Grizzlies Won’t Be The Next Clippers; Javaris Crittenton’s Trouble Deepens

Rudy Gay

Anyone remember the 2006 Clippers? The team that came the year after the squad nearly made the Western Conference Finals? Well, if you don’t recall, just as they were supposed to be the next big thing, they fell apart. Management, coaching, the players, everyone butted heads and it wasn’t even a year later before they were out of the playoffs for good. You could make the claim Memphis is eerily similar. Except for one thing: they are determined to keep the ship upright. Read More »

The NBA Lockout’s Effect On Jersey Sales

Dirk Nowitzki

We know switching jersey numbers or teams can drastically affect a player’s jersey sales. Ask LeBron James, who did both last year and those changes withstood a firestorm of criticism to give him the title as the NBA’s most popular jersey. Ask Kobe Bryant, who did the same thing a few years ago to help bolster his three-year reign atop the jersey list. When changes happen, it’s predictable that we will see a difference in who is buying what jerseys. Read More »

Andre Iguodala’s Dynamic Defense Drills & Workout

Despite what you may think, most NBA players don’t set sail for the Caribbean once the season ends; many decide to live in the gym. And after making the playoffs last season, this is definitely the case for Andre Iguodala. With that, check out Dre’s dynamic defense workout presented by Nike Basketball. In five one-minute videos, you’ll see everything from the correct technique for closing out to using your lateral quickness on defensive slides.

Team Jordan vs. Team Nike Game Slated For Miami

Dwyane Wade

Let’s be honest: Who hasn’t had this idea for years? Once Dwyane Wade joined Jordan Brand, I would stay up all night thinking what a three-on-three game between Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul against Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant would look like. Now, sans Kobe, we’ll get to find out. According to Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine, the squads for The South Florida All-Star Classic will be headlined by Jordan Brand players (Wade, Anthony, Paul) vs. Nike (James, Durant, Chris Bosh). Oh yeah, and Kevin Hart and Rick Ross are coaching. Read More »

NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed

NBA 2K12

When I was younger, nothing involving video games took up more of my time than editing rosters. This was before they did it for you, and back when the game would arrive without 20-30 legit NBA players in it. There were always guys who would make teams and get run, but wouldn’t be in the game. It shouldn’t have, but it did matter to me who was a 57 and who was a 62. Read More »

Dime Q&A: Rajon Rondo Talks 1-On-1 Hoops, Celtics & NBA Lockout

Rajon Rondo

Perhaps it never occurred to Rajon Rondo’s loudest critics that the NBA All-Star point guard has rarely been a big-time scorer because he’s rarely had to be.

From his star-making high school senior year at Oak Hill Academy, to his collegiate run at Kentucky, to his pro tenure with the Celtics, Rondo has gone from one loaded powerhouse of a team to another. He shared the court with All-American and eventual NBA standout Josh Smith at Oak Hill, with Joe Crawford at UK (the school’s 19th all-time leading scorer), and has played alongside future Hall of Famers Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Shaquille O’Neal in Boston. The last time Rondo was asked to carry the scoring load for a team, he dropped 27.9 points per game as a junior at Eastern High School in Louisville. Read More »

NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Golden State Warriors

Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors have perennially been one of the more favorable NBA teams for fantasy basketball fans. The arrival of new head coach Mark Jackson may mean more energy spent on the defensive end of the court, but make no mistake – the crew from Oakland still has plenty of appeal for fantasy purposes. After all, not many teams boast four players who can potentially be drafted in the first three rounds of drafts whenever the NBA resumes. Read More »
