The first time I ever saw Brandon Jennings play, he was already playing like a pro. That was a good and bad thing. One, he had the shot-making and the isolation skills to do work and hit shots from virtually anywhere on the court. It didn’t matter if he was 30 feet from the rim with five seconds on the shot clock. It didn’t matter if he was trapped in the corner. He was creative and skilled, almost too much for any 17-year-old. Read More »
When O.J. Mayo told Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix there were times last year where he wasn’t sure he even wanted to play basketball anymore, my eyes opened. I’ll admit that Mayo is and always will be one of my favorite players. His ruthlessness in high school hooked me. Three years into his pro career, I never would’ve guessed that someone had stolen his confidence. But it definitely happened.
One thing you realize when speaking to enough players is that it’s more about the situation than it is the player. Sure, there are times when someone loses motivation, and their game falls off. But take away the very best players in the world, and what do you have left? Read More »
For the scarred veterans of countless throw-downs with significant others, it is the grand question that hovers over each petty incident—the subtitles that clarify the curse words. And every now and then, the more mature versions of ourselves can diffuse a hostile situation by asking that question.

A few weeks ago we introduced 35th Hour, a new web series starring the one and only Kevin Durant. In the second episode, KD gives us an inside look into his offseason workout routine with his trainer Justin Zormelo, as well as his matchup against LeBron James in the Goodman League-Melo League showdown in Baltimore.
With three contributing players inked to overseas deals that may prevent them from rejoining the NBA in the 2011-12 regular season (should it exist) and with at least two significant free agents to re-sign, the Denver Nuggets make for an intriguing study from a fantasy basketball perspective. If you need a sleeper to watch once the NBA season starts, my money is on Utah’s Jeremy Evans. The 55th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft has been playing everywhere this summer, and he’s been doing a lot of this…
How much would you play to see Allen Iverson play up close? Iverson has been out of the limelight for so long now that it would feel weird seeing him match up with guys like Chris Paul and Kevin Durant. Turns out we probably won’t have to worry about that. While it was initially reported that Iverson may take the court in Philadelphia for a homecoming of sorts for a game between Baltimore and Philly this weekend, his longtime manager, Gary Moore, said his man wouldn’t be playing in the Battle of I-95 … Read More »
It doesn’t get better than this for Latrell Sprewell. While it wasn’t his career high, this game from January 21, 1997 is definitely Spree’s most complete game. When was the last time you had 46 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, five steals and a W?
If the NBA season was to start on time, there would only be one player that makes more than the $22 million Rashard Lewis is slated for this year: Kobe Bryant. And while Lewis is a two-time NBA All-Star, he doesn’t exactly have the five championship rings and 13 All-Star nods that the Black Mamba does. But when it comes to the lockout, Lewis is a company man. He believes he shouldn’t be punished for the six-year, $118 million contract he signed with Orlando five years ago – and neither do we. That’s why it’s crazy to hear that he is willing to lose it all in order to make sure players get taken care of now and in the future. Read More »
