After more than 85 years in the game, the Harlem Globetrotters are still ballin’. And today, the team is challenging the world to the largest game of H-O-R-S-E ever played. If you think you have what it takes to compete, all you have to do is submit your best trick shots to Facebook and see if the Globetrotters can hang.
“The game of H-O-R-S-E has inspired many highlights that have contributed to the originality and excitement of basketball throughout the sport’s history,” says Angela Leaney, Executive Vice President of Brand Marketing for the Globetrotters. “From the alley-oop to the slam dunk, the Globetrotters have long used trick shots as staples of their game, and we’re confident they have what it takes to take on America and win.”
Here’s what you need to know to enter:
The Basket
A regulation 10-foot basketball hoop and regulation size rim
The Basketball
A regulation size basketball
The Court
Must be considered an everyday place to play basketball (gym, driveway, street, etc.). Automatic disqualification will occur if the court used in the entry is a location that a basketball game would not normally occur (the woods, in a pool, etc.).
The Shot
The shot can made from anywhere on the court or within a 15-foot perimeter
Modifiers
– Shot type modifiers – shooting (hook shot, backwards, granny style) are accepted, but must be called on the video before the shot was made.
– Shot type modifiers – making (bank/glass, swish/nothing but net, off the wall) are accepted, but must be called on the video before the shot was made.
Note: Automatic disqualification will occur if a prop is used in any way at any time before the shot, during the shot, or after the shot. You can use a wall to redirect the basketball, but it must be a non-movable wall, otherwise it might be considered a prop and the entry will be disqualified.
The Video
1. Must be one continuous video and the ball must remain in frame the entire video
2. Must be specifically created for this contest
3. Must be intended for family audience viewing
Each week, the winning shot will earn a Spalding BEAST portable basketball system for themselves or to donate to their favorite youth group/non-profit. Fans who don’t submit videos can still win Globetrotter tickets, autographed basketballs and other merchandise just for voting.
