The Philadelphia 76ers have fantasy value pretty evenly spread across each position on their roster – except for the center spot. While there’s no outright stud, the Sixers have plenty of appeal throughout the middle and late rounds of standard-sized drafts. Read More »

After recently saying this lockout is a direct cause of all the NBA’s stars running to team up in major markets, Charles Barkley also sat down with azcentral.com to talk hoops and the current lockout. When asked about his thoughts on the owners and NBA commissioner David Stern, Barkley said that Stern was the best commissioner in sports and would do whatever is best for the small market teams. In regards to Amar’e and ‘Melo’s statements about starting their own league, Barkley said that it was one of the stupidest things he’s ever heard. Right up there with New Coke. Read More »
So much of this lockout was said to be a result of all the star players migrating to the big markets and leaving the smaller market teams without a real money-maker or with a shot to be competitive. Well for Dwyane Wade, he says it’s unrealistic to not expect that. Some teams will be down. Some will be powerful, just like an other corporation or business or industry in the world. Wade says he thinks it’s stupid to shoot for a world where every team has the same chips to play with. It’s not about who has the most chips. It’s what teams do with those chips. How large of a factor do you think that is? OKC and the Spurs have shown you can win in any type of market, but they also both got lucky and found themselves superstars who truly enjoy being there. It always comes down to basketball decisions, but do you think a team like the Lakers would always be this competitive if they were in a smaller market? … Read More »
82 games? A secret schedule? David Stern having a conscience? No way. But rumors continue to mount that all of this might be true (even the stuff about our man Stern). Obviously, Stern has been throwing threats around for the last few weeks. He made good on the first one – to cancel the first two weeks of the season – but now it’s possible the season might be in jeopardy – or at least all the games before Christmas – if nothing is improved by next week. ESPN.com reports that there’s a belief amongst the players that the owners may start turning on each other if the players hold firm. Of course, we’ve heard that one before. What if neither side budges? A bunch of stubborn millionaires/billionaires dig themselves even further into the sand? Let’s not talk about it. Read More »
You knew once K1X opened their NYC flagship store (359 Lafayette Street) that they’d be releasing some cool stuff, and the K1X x Charles Oakley collection is just that. Personifying the brand’s “play hard” philosophy and admiration for the “Golden Era” of basketball, Oakley’s gritty game and gutsy persona have always been an inspiration to a lot of people within the company, and they were thrilled when Oak announced he would be on board.
