Pau Gasol Isn’t Listening To The Haters; Derek Fisher & David Stern Had A Secret Agreement?

Pau Gasol

For everyone out there calling for Pau Gasol‘s head, saying he fell off and was embarrassing in the playoffs and that the Lakers need to trade him to have a shot at another title, he has a few words for you: “Thanks for the trust.” The big Spaniard says he hasn’t paid attention to any negativity this summer and that one of the best parts of life is being able to go forward and prove people wrong. Looking back at last season, it was a tale of two lives for Gasol. For the first half of the year, he was phenomenal, probably even better than Kobe. He had a legitimate MVP case and was playing as well as he ever has. Read More »

Lockout Talks Fall Apart…Again; Phil Jackson Says Derrick Rose Needs Help

Derrick Rose

We were soooo close. Imagine if the proper etiquette when you went out to eat or hit up happy hour was to tip two percent. That would feel like nothing. Well in what was considered to be the biggest day thus far of the lockout – the first one where a good percentage of those involved legitimately believed a deal could get done – the guys ended where they started: with nothing. The talks broke down on the dreaded BRI when neither the players nor the owners would move off their stances. The players wanted 52 percent; The owners were at 50. Of course, it’s pretty stupid to compare tipping $6 with a CBA for the NBA but still in the context – with millionaires fighting billionaires, you get our drift. You are two percent away. You want to know how easy it is to fix that? Each side give up a point. Read More »

Carmelo Anthony Shows Us What We’ve Been Missing

As another day winds down with no deal – sources say talks broke down on the BRI with the owners at 50 and the players at 52 percent – we found ourselves watching one of the better performances from last year’s playoffs: a 42 and 17 night from Carmelo Anthony, nearly beating the Celtics in their house with a bunch of bench players. More lockout and less of this because the sides are two percent off?

Man Set To Make One Millionth Free Throw This Veteran’s Day

Dave Cummings

Have you ever wanted something so bad that time didn’t matter? The setting and rising of the sun did little to kill your drive. Your will was too great that it just slaughtered time. A few times when I was younger, I took upwards of 2,000 shots in one night. One night in particular stands out: freshman year of college. My roommate and I hit the gym after dinner. We were there so long the facility closed up because everyone thought it was empty. By midnight, a security guard kicked us out. Each of us had taken around 1,000 shots and yet we had been there for what seemed like forever. Well, Dave Cummings doesn’t fear time. Read More »

The 5 Best Halloween Costumes From NBA Players

Josh Smith

I’ve always wanted to own a Gorilla Suit. A really good one, something that would legitimately scare people if they saw me at night in it. I wanted it to be so good that I’d have wide-eyed people ripping out their photos to take pictures of what they thought was the real-life Bigfoot. In college, there was a dining area open until 3 a.m. on the weekends, and the way it was setup would’ve given the perfect opportunity to don a suit late on a Saturday night, with lit college kids packing the place, and come charging through for one quick lap. That’s all I wanted: a suit for one night. Read More »

Yancy Gates

*College basketball is here (unlike the NBA), and this year might be one of the best in recent memory. The powerhouse is back, while the Cinderellas believe. That’s a deadly combination. We know some of y’all have been asking for some previews. We have you covered – the top 16 teams in the nation will be previewed individually in the next few weeks, starting Monday. After Oregon yesterday, we’ll keep this going with Cincinnati – not quite a top 16 team, but one of our favorites here at Dime.* Read More »

Tobias Harris

After an outstanding prep career where he was named a McDonald’s All American and Mr. Basketball in the State of New York, Tobias Harris spent his lone season of college at the University of Tennessee before being selected 19th overall this June.
