Scottie Pippen Still Thinks LeBron Could Become The Best Ever

LeBron James

There’s nothing that lights up a room of hoopheads quite like saying someone is better than Michael Jordan. That sentiment is typically met with a three-step response. People will start laughing at the foolishness. Back in May, immediately following LeBron James‘ destruction of Chicago in the Eastern Conference Finals, Scottie Pippen did the unthinkable and said LeBron could one day develop into a better all-around player than the greatest ever. Rick Adelman To Ricky Rubio: Just Be Yourself

Ricky Rubio

Is there anything better than playing for a coach that doesn’t just ask – no, he demands – that you be yourself on the court? It’s the ultimate for a player, whether it’s high school jayvee, college basketball, overseas or even at the very top in the NBA. This carefree attitude is especially important with young players (specifically point guards), many of whom don’t know how to run an offense, and don’t have the belief or confidence in themselves to command the ball and put people in the right positions. Rick Adelman knows this, and says he’ll allow his Spanish import, Ricky Rubio, to have all the freedom in the world this year. Read More »

We Reminisce: The Man, The Myth – Jerry Joseph

Jerry Joseph

“My man… WTF happened to you?”

It was high school, the summer before sophomore year. The gym was baking. The sun was glazing us, coming right through the windows, and yet we played on.

He had been growing, getting taller and filling out his jersey. Everyone had noticed, but it was all just in passing. What’s the difference between 5-10 and 6-0? It’s hardly noticeable. Maybe he gets an extra rebound or a few deflections at the head of the press that he couldn’t reach before. But he was still skinny as a chicken wing. Read More »
