We’ve all done it, but now Michael Jordan and Drake have joined the debate over what the greatest NBA team of all time is. Drake thinks there won’t be any question after his Miami Heat pass the 72 wins MJ’s ’96 Bulls got. Think he’s wrong? Prove it by submitting a video at NBA2KDebate.com and join the #NBA2KDebate on Twitter. Also, make sure you check out the dope official 60-second spot after the jump.
While NBA players have nothing better to do during a lockout, Cappie Pondexter has been playing ball with the New York Liberty all summer. And three days after it was over, she decided to go under the needle. Just recently, we’ve shown you new ink from Kevin Durant, Matt Barnes and Jeff Teague. Now, thanks to Twitter, we have the latest from the girl who recently gave Sebastian Telfair buckets. Check it out in all its glory after the jump. Read More »
The Miami Heat’s shortcomings last season were well-documented. That said, it should do nothing to diminish the fact that this time has some serious fantasy firepower. Aside from the Big Three, there is some residual value to be had on this squad. Whenever the NBA starts up again, fantasy owners would do well to keep a close eye on which players the Heat adds to its roster, and which of its free agents it chooses to re-sign. It’s very possible that this team will have a whole new batch of role players once its retooling is over with. Read More »
From what we’ve heard, Deron Williams has been shaky in his first few regular season games in Turkey (here is footage of his first preseason game). This was the very first one against Dexia Mons-Hainaut (Belgian) and while Williams finished with 15 points and nine dimes in a 78-70 win, he shot just 3-15 from the field. Does he look in-shape in this brief clip? Judge for yourself. More footage of Williams’ time overseas after the jump.
There’s nothing else to say at this point, other than if they don’t get this deal done by Monday, David Stern and the rest of the NBA will start canceling games. The two sides met for four hours yesterday for what was deemed an enormously important negotiation day by pretty much everyone involved, and yet they came out of it still very much apart. The meetings basically ended when the owners low-balled the players with an offer of 47 percent of the basketball related income, down from the 57 percent in the previous CBA, and still much lower than the player’s offer of 53 percent … Read More »
Since introducing you to Under The Armour, we’ve seen Brandon Jennings do his thing in Capital Punishment, travel to L.A. and get it in with guys like Bow Wow and Dime cover boy Aquille Carr & take us on a tour of the Under Armour offices. In his latest episode, Jennings shows off his boxing workout and continues to be a playmaker for his undefeated flag football team. Plus, we all get put on the guest list for his crazy 22nd birthday party.
Being a fanatical O.J. Mayo fan (When I first interned at Dime, I got hyped at the site of the “vault.” I knew I could finally go back in time and rediscover the old Juice cover that I hadn’t seen in three years…), it was only natural that I was seduced by the mystic of Bill Walker’s hops. You could call it osmosis; watch enough Mayo videos – and I certainly did – and eventually you’ll find yourself saying “Wow, they say that other guy is the best high school dunker ever, but all I ever really see are windmills.” It was one of those things where you didn’t really see it, but so many people swore to it and claimed to have eyewitness accounts that you just had to believe it. Jeff Teague was lost on the bench for most of his first two years in Atlanta before stepping up in the playoffs (11.8 ppg, 3.5 apg) to end last season. Still, so far this summer Teague has gone largely unnoticed, overshadowed by bigger personalities. But as the ATL lead guard showed us on Twitter, his tattoo game is going to be much louder. Hit the jump for more photos.
