When we posted this debate a few weeks ago – LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant – it set off an avalanche of opinions. On Friday, we gave you the KD side. Now, another writer comes with his rebuttal…
To the untrained eye, the comparison between LeBron James and Kevin Durant is closely similar. Both players share a very unique game composed of guard-like skills in a big man’s body. If you block out all exterior factors, and focus solely on each player’s game on the court, the comparison is acceptable. Durant has played four NBA seasons to LeBron’s eight and has put up similar statistics in his first four seasons to what LeBron was able to do in his first four. Read More »
When my wife found me I was laying on the floor. I was curled in the fetal position, wearing my replica 2004 Olympics Argentina basketball jersey. I had laid all my Josh McRoberts rookie cards in a circle around myself, like a protective force field. Read More »
The double-edged sword of fame has hit Kevin Durant hard this past year. While he’s done his thing on the court – leading Oklahoma City to the brink of the Finals and being arguably this summer’s unofficial MVP – he’s been criticized for everything from his relationship with Russell Westbrook to his tattoos to even what hats he wears. In this video, KD addresses his critics.
After Philadelphia’s NBA All-Stars held it down in their home city and beat an All-Star squad that included LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, Hakim Warrick declared they were the “champs” of the summer league circuit. But I think most people had to take that with a grain of salt. The originators of all of this is Washington, D.C. and their Goodman League team. They beat the Drew League, and everyone else for most of the summer. So it was only fitting that we would get a clash of the titans. Read More »
With a new head coach who apparently has plans to speed up the offense and utilize the team’s two big men more, it’s very possible that the Los Angeles Lakers are in for something of an adjustment. Of course, they still have an alpha dog to appease, which could mean endless hours spent by TV pundits discussing real or imagined tension. Regardless, fantasy owners can rest assured that the value on the Lakers remains with the four usual suspects. In what degree their values will change, however, is up for speculation. Read More »
Drake has caught some criticism lately for his musical content, specifically his intent to make all of us feel so bad for him because he’s famous. In his world, the spectacle of fame is so up and down, like an elevator. “Headlines” is no different, and the new video reflects that. Toronto is put on center stage in this one, whether we’re on the ground or among the skyline. Drake might fantasize in his music about a fall from grace, but Take Care probably won’t do anything but take him higher. Lyrics in this one are NSFW.
We’re not even sure where to begin with this one. Off-the-wall windmills. Through-the-legs. A behind-the-back. In terms of “Hoopmixtape” moments, this was by far the best game of the summer. It had everything, even the typical annoying emcee. Hit the jump for the game’s top 10 plays and even more highlights.
Horace Grant had some words for Carlos Boozer and his former team, the Chicago Bulls, recently. Here’s a small dose: “Boozer needs to be, for a lack of a better phrase, Scottie Pippen to a Michael Jordan.” Rose, in this case, is taking the place of Michael Jordan. Grant went on to say that Boozer needs to become more assertive and accept his role as the number two or three scorer on the team. He also said that Boozer needs to be more physical as well as a more dominant rebounder, that he needs to help out Joakim Noah and become more aggressive on the boards. Who doesn’t agree with him? Look, Boozer is an undersized four. He’s not one of those guys who can fly down the lane, catch a bounce pass and dunk on someone like Amar’e Stoudemire. What he can do is score from the low block, and hit the 15-18 footer. Read More »
It has come to this. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul have made up their minds: we will lose the season if the owners try to force them to make any more concessions. They won’t mind the missed games; they’re refusing to budge anymore. Of course, they aren’t worried. Those stars will be fine either way. But what about everyone else? They’ve made the stance that they won’t go lower than the 53 percent (down from 57 percent in the last CBA) of the share on the basketball related income and that the owners need to come meet them. How much blame should David Stern get in this? Depends. While most contend he desperately wants to avoid any missed games, Stern also got into a shouting match with Wade during one of the meetings because of his bullying tactics and the way he was speaking to the players. I don’t have to tell you that there is definitely a spectrum when it comes to NBA players. Some guys will sign autographs, shake hands and kiss babies, and others, well, they prefer their privacy. With that said, all the extended Dime fam in Atlanta should jump at the opportunity to kick it with Josh Smith this afternoon as he launches his new shoe — the adidas adiZero Ghost. Here’s all the info: Read More »
