Josh Smith Reviews The adidas adiZero Ghost

One of the things I like the most about YouTube is that anyone can go on there and talk about anything. And in the sneakerhead community, in addition to showing off the collection, this often means reviewing shoes. So inspired by all of them, Josh Smith gives us an exclusive review of the adidas adiZero Ghost.

The Best Matchup Of The ‘NBA World Tour’

Kobe Bryant

Those lucky Puerto Ricans. Oh well, we can’t really complain. We’ve had “Capital Punishment” (check out our latest issue – Dime #66 – for a behind-the-scenes recap), “The Big Payback,” that crazy Chris Paul charity game and even stuff like this past weekend when Michael Beasley nearly went for 60. As boring as the lockout’s been, we can be thankful for those games. But the NBA World Tour – as we’ve dubbed it – would exceed all of that in star power. We’re talking USA Baskeball Team-like star power. We’re talking Kobe vs. LeBron. We’re talking taking the game to people across the world who’ll treat each encounter as a once-in-a-lifetime event. Could it all start this Saturday night at San Juan Arena in Puerto Rico? Read More »

Ty Lawson Isn’t Happy Overseas, Tweets His Frustration

Ty Lawson

It’s both predictable and weirdly unexplainable. How come NBA players can’t play overseas? We assume they’re the best players on the court, have the most talent, but they always end up sinking into the background. Look at Deron Williams. He has one big game – 24 points and 10 dimes – and we’re all nodding as if that proves something. Shouldn’t he be doing that every game? That’s what we’ve come to expect from players that talented. But if this lockout has proven anything about NBA player-overseas league relations, it’s that the transition is hard. For Ty Lawson, it’s been extra tough. Read More »

Bidding Basketball: Tim Duncan Kicks & New York Knicks T-Shirt

Bidding Basketball

The 2011-12 NBA season is at a standstill, but all is not lost. The union and league are far apart on terms, according to reports, but each day without basketball means a night without a gate, and neither side wants that. They should eventually reach a compromise and play; let’s hope it’s this year. Bidding Basketball is back, though, with an eye towards the Spurs and Knicks, Eastern and Western Conference Champions in the strike-shortened 1998-99 season. Positive vibes heading to the NBA? Hard to say. Read More »

Washington Coach Compares Tony Wroten Jr. To Magic Johnson

Tony Wroten

It’s players like incoming Washington freshman Tony Wroten Jr. who have me ready for college basketball. Forget BRI, the lockout, George Cohen and 50/50 splits. College basketball should be extra fresh this year. The powerhouses are back to take the throne, and the talent level – as far as future NBA players – is higher than it’s been in a minute. Wroten Jr. is one of those guys, a 6-4 lead guard who has a chance to be much bigger than his hype. At least he did before. His hype just took a steroid hit, courtesy of his coach at U-Dub, Lorenzo Romar. Read More »

NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Utah Jazz

Al Jefferson

The Utah Jazz are a frontcourt-heavy team. They have about 3-4 big men capable of producing usable numbers if given sufficient minutes, which means that unless a trade happens to free things up there, some frustrating minutes-based limitations are in the cards. That said, the Jazz have a nice balance of productive veterans and up-and-coming players ready to make an impact on fantasy basketball whenever the NBA starts again. Read More »
